    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

Slight setback. Getting ready for the crucial drilling for bulkhead fitting, but with only a 67mm diameter opening from fuel pump... sheah, not even getting a hand in there, much less working a stubby 20mm wrench. o_O Yellow 'X' marks fitting placement. Even if a hand could get in there...

Dropped 2 teeth in the rear, gives almost 500 RPMs savings at speed. Side advantage: I have increased my wheelbase by a solid 11mm. There a lot more threads showing between the adjuster nuts compared to stock bikes. That fantastic dimpled stainless steel flanged axle nut is from Pro-Bolt.

While I ordered and have the duel outlet metal stems. I am not using them. That could be had cheap from me, for those that are interested. (y)

These are cap sensors. I stopped looking at internals sensors because eventually, they will get ruined during a tire-changing exercise. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BFH9WZ7

It is quite similar to other Chinese brands, I've seen the users manual for a couple of them - seems mostly all the same. The SYKiK units I have seen in action on my Tracer for two years, it is surprisingly accurate Show up well in bright sunlight - it is a color LCD readout. It does a good job.

With aux fuel. 4.5-gallon stock plus 4.3-gallon means the low Fuel Light is illuminating after 7.5 gallons - likely around at the 240-250 mile point.

It is a pinch louder than I anticipated it was going to be, but it is not "loud" loud by any means, certainly not to the point it's obnoxious. It's really more of a deeper tone, due to the cross-plane motor. I do have the dB Killer insert installed, oh, yes. And I'll be leaving it in there for...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

Well.... some interesting, happy test news. 😃 Today was the first run-in of the Yoshimura Alpha-T 3/4 setup, along with proper size Dunlop RoadSmarts, and a 41-tooth rear SuperLite sprocket. A very quick road trip indicates I am now up in the 33-mpg range. 🔥 Not quite as stellar as I was...

Very happy to unload this factory cat. Not only does it look like ***, it weighs a friggin' ton! The weight savings alone justifies this Yosh 3/4 system! Now we are talking The Business! 🔥 🔥 🔥

It does have an audible beep alarm - but fat lot of good it does underway with helmet on! The bluetooth is for temps and pressures only, nothing to the helmet that I recall seeing in its manual. Still a nice little unit for the relatively inexpensive price. The kit comes with this...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

Upon testing a second tankful of gas... I have to call this experiment of flashing back to factory specs a failure. :( This second tank, I did not purposely go slow, or do a steady interstate run - this was a just a casual, routine run around the canyons and nearby High Plains. Unbelievably...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

The ECU has returned from 2 Wheel Dynoworks in Kirkland. Really hoping a re-flash back to factory specs would allow MPG to climb into the mid-30's. The initial test findings are not encouraging, however. That said, it was only a quick 60 mile test run, mostly interstate. I am seeing slight...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

Major milestone in this Long-Distance project bike... the Auxiliary Fuel Cell has been mounted up! I still have all the plumbing to do, but this was a critical piece of the puzzle, creating a strong, beefy mounting platform. The Aux Cell and Mounting Plate are being transferred over from the...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

My close inspections to date all point to an obvious drill site candidate: the flat area aft of the fuel pump, to the left side of tank, as denoted by yellow 'X' in below photo. The fuel pump plate and the flat area aft of it represent the absolute lowest point o n the factory tank, many inches...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

Wow... just wow, that is so gorgeous...! The original 4.3 gallon aux cell fabricator, Ernie Azevedo, is making me his custom low-profile 90-degree bulkhead fitting, so I will wait for it's arrival and decide where to drill a HUGE-*** HOLE IN MY ******* TANK! Not that I am concerned, or...

More fun times in MT10 Electric-land! Always a rat's nest until the looming and taping are done. There is a lot happening in this pic: I am back to using micro gang-assemblies for the task of creating multiple sets of the same 5 circuits: Running Lights Brake Lights Left Turn...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

Weather is about to crushed us with another arctic blast after today, so it's a good time to go back into the warm shop and continue working on this beast. I am about to send off the Aux Cell Mounting Plate to my fabricator so he can re-do the countersink holes to marry up with the Givi rack...

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

I have little doubt my MT10 already has a flashed ECU, which would help account for my ****-all MPG numbers. 🥺 Observed circumstantial evidence: the Exhaust Valve servo motor has been removed and the valve has been hard wired open. Without a Servo-Buddy plugged into the servo motor...
