    End of an ERA

There are some aftermarket exhaust canisters that are 'swept upward' a lot more severe angle than the factory can, those I would have concern about. But this one is fine with a passenger, the few times I have had her on the back. Regardless, this is the Hayabusa replacement bike, primarily for...

    End of an ERA

Speaking of that.... 😃 I am guessing most of the forum isn't aware that I went insane 6 months into the pandemic, while the West was on fire and you couldn't see blue sky anywhere, and traded in my much beloved, 12 year old Hayabusa. I was convinced at the time (which proved incorrect) that...

    End of an ERA

It most definitely is. I won't even start in on eyesight issues, they are not helping at all. Because of them, I don't care for night riding much nowadays, and if it's raining at night, that particularly bad. So it is definitely a *****. But this crossplane triple bike is helping.

    End of an ERA

Well. Most hit a point in the aging process with the realization that it is time to move on. I have reached that point. I trade in the matte-blue FJR1300 today, and that will conclude my 20 year history with this bike. Hard to come to grips with as it may seem, I am not the strapping young...

FJRF013 - Transmission Recall for Second Gear (DE, UK, CA, & US) (2016-2020)

I pick up the bike today. My tech said I had bluing friction plates that are a little abby-normal. It matters not at this point - the Matte-blue bike will serve as a trade-in. The bluing is substantial on some of them. Weird.

FJRF013 - Transmission Recall for Second Gear (DE, UK, CA, & US) (2016-2020)

It will be my 2018's time in the barrel on March 9th. Yesterday, I talked to my Tech who will do the recall -  he is wrapping up his second one now, and will begin his third one on Tuesday. Then mine well be his fourth FJR for this recall. I wanted to ensure he did 2-3 before mine.  😁 Took...

FJRF013 - Transmission Recall for Second Gear (DE, UK, CA, & US) (2016-2020)

Well. After two decades of FJR ownership, waaaay over 300,000 miles of heavy-duty use on four different Generations - it has come to this?  😖  WTF, Yamaha? Obviously, my 2018 is on the recall list - I am looking to have DVP schedule me up as soon as parts hit. I hate this, but I am having it...

Sad News About Our Forum Founder, Slapnpop

Very sad. He hit me up almost immediately when it was clear that original POS forum was floundering, and his version of the forum was cutting edge (at the time), certainly compared to the mustard-colored.  Travis was a force in the FJRForum, literally.  Huge loss.  😢

    6 speed tranny problems?

I have not heard of a single problem issue with the Gen IV's 6-speed transmission. However.... the 6-speed transmission appears to make a significant difference compared to the 5-speed transmission,  Having been riding four different generations of this bike for the past 17 years, I can say...

At this point in time, one hour until the Penalty Window opens, Spotwalla lag becomes pronounced. Except for those who are obviously too far away ( greater than 3 hours), you just can't rely on Spotwalla for pinpoint accuracy.

There are a plethora of checks in the scoring software, fully-enabled Spotwalla tracks, and other mechanisms in place that would reveal such shenanigans in short order (example: we would know if one's average mpg goes from 40 mpg to something like 55mpg over a given stretch of time). But what...
