Damn, Chuck beat me to it. Going off what he said, and off your concern, this thing is designed to stand up to all manner of road grit, grime, moisture, and temperature extremes. Penetrating oil shouldn't be a problem.

The sensor and its housing are one unit. There is one allen bolt that holds the whole thing on. Once you've removed the little allen bolt holding the silver plate on, the sensor and housing should pull out rather easily. No further disassembly is required, nor, AFAIK, possible.

Works great for lubricating your windshield mechanism, too. :)

... also, the spacers (leftmost parts in the photo) are now Rustoleum flat black, not silver as shown in the picture.

I have TBS'ed the hell out of my bike, and also spent more than a little time loosening and re-torquing motor mounts. Also, the PCV I installed really made no difference in the maddening buzz I've been experiencing with this bike. It's interesting, and contrary to what everyone seems to believe...

In case anyone is following this thread, I spoke with Heli last week and they informed me they have canceled development of the Horizon ST for our FJRs. However, they just released something called a "handlebar bridge" which looks like it gives more pull-back than any other solution I've seen...
