Need route planning help around Ambassador bridge

For the last several years, I've been doing this charity ride called The Lake Erie Loop. It's about 655 miles around Lake Erie (starting and finishing at a campground in Wellington, OH) and basically, he who goes around fastest wins...but all the money raised goes to charity. I'm in it for the...

    Footpeg Relocation

    A) They won't even fit in the slot that the stock peg comes out of (too wide). B} They hang at the wrong angle entirely, so even if you could get them in the slot, the peg feelers point to the rear contact patch. C) The hole for the pin being the wrong size is the least of the problems. They...

    Footpeg Relocation

Well,I can now say beyond a shadow of a doubt that the XB pegs will NOT work on an FJR...at least not a 1st gen...no how, no way. At least not without a cutoff wheel and a MIG welder. Bummer...I had high hopes for a cheap fix.

Lowering links and ride height adjusters......

This may prove to be a dumb question (glad it's not Friday!), but I'll ask it anyway. My Penske shock raised the rear of the bike quite a bit over the stocker, even with the ride height adjustment all the way down. Enough so that it's a bit cumbersome for my 31" inseam to back the bike out of...

    Footpeg Relocation

And now that I said that, I just looked them up online and yes...he was a dork. They're $25 for the pair as stated by someone else earlier in this thread. I'll probably order some soon, but not from them. Maybe I was the dork for believing a parts counter guy who said he didn't know how to...

    Footpeg Relocation

Well, I stopped in today at F&S HD/Buell and had a look. Good looking pegs. They're on the XB9 & XB12. F&S didn't stock them. The parts counter dork said they are $26 each...not for the pair as some believed. Figured I'd do a little online shopping before ordering through F&S. If someone...

    Footpeg Relocation

Wow...this is actually big news for me. For years now I've said my only real ***** with the FJR is that for comfort sake, I wish my feet were farther back. Saw the Vario pegs awhile back, but didn't care for them. This could be the answer to a wish I've had for a looooong time. Since you...

5k miles on Front Dunlop Roadsmart

Nix that. Looks like I waited too long and they've jacked their prices. Better deals to be found elsewhere. Too bad Parts411.com charges such outrageous shipping charges, since they're consistently cheap on the tires themselves. Still better deals to be had.

5k miles on Front Dunlop Roadsmart

Funny how other's oppinions can make you think you've got something going on, when maybe you really don't. 6k now on my rear R/S and it still looks better than ANY rear tire I've run on EITHER of my FJRs at this mileage. I was starting to think maybe it was handling a bit wonky, but then...

    WTB: Chatterbox GMRS X1 Bluetooth

I've already got a GMRS X1, but suuuuuure would like to upgrade to the B/T model, but toy budget is a bit tight these days. Anybody got a used one they're not using laying on a shelf collecting dust? Anybody??

Options For Occasional Extra Fuel ??

Yes, just go slowly or you'll overflow it before ya know it. The 1 qt size packs really easily. If your FJR gets 40 mpg, a quart is (theoretically) good for 10 miles. I coulda sworn they used to offer a bigger one, but I don't see anything bigger on their website now. They're readily...

    Battery Tender Question

I've got one unswitched Powerlet outlet on my feej and made an adapter so I can just plug my Battery Tender right into that. Works fine. Just make sure you observe polarity when making your adapter. :o

Options For Occasional Extra Fuel ??

I've been using the 1 qt MSR cans for several years and thousands of miles. Have had to use it a time or two as well. Here's my solution to having it roll around in the saddlebags or trunk.............. It's a big chunk of foam that's just a little bigger than the MSR can...... I...

Who has the best price on BT-016s?

They're about $30 higher for the pair. Yes, they were on MadMike's list...also higher. Wrong sizes for my application and they don't sell the right ones. More often than not, I've bought my tires from Chaparral over the last couple decades. Exceptions were when they were unusually...

Who has the best price on BT-016s?

I had not. Done. Same results. Chaparral is still cheapest. No one is cheaper on the tires themselves. Their free shipping through March just makes it an even tougher deal to beat. Thanks for trying Mike.

Who has the best price on BT-016s?

I've shopped til I dropped, but can't find anybody who can beat Chaparral. Parts411 is the same price on the tires, but Chaparral will ship for free through March 31st. Parts411 charges a bunch for shipping. Anybody got any other good sources for bike tires?

How the FJR does in 2 feet of snow

I decided to ride the feej to work today in spite of the 14*F. Got all geared up to leave. Imagine my surprise when I opened the garage door and the driveway was covered in snow. Funny...there was no snow in the forecast. Roads didn't look as bad as my driveway, so WTF...I was already...

What do ya do about cold toes?

Oh, how I love a cheap solution. ;)

What do ya do about cold toes?

Those certainly look warm, but I'm not sure you'd ever get them under a shifter, and I don't ride an AE. I might have to get a better look at those. Not sure if they'd present the same shifter issues or not. Got 'em. I give them a much higher score for looks than functionality...
