Cycle World Moving to Online Publication Only

Yeah, Egan and Cameron were the main reasons why I kept my subscription.  Cameron has a lot of content, usually, in the new coffee table issues.  Seems like the rest of the staff is pretty thin.

    Split: Off topic about Harleys

As I mentioned in the original thread, the MSF courses recommended running the high beam in the daytime to get noticed.  I did that religiously on my FJ1200.  With my '06 FJR, I used Motolights on the forks for conspicuity.  The dual beams just seamed too bright.  Even on the FJ, with a high...

Trusting a Mechanic After a Mistake

No clips to hold them in. They will fall out without much effort if the caliper is not mounted and it gets knocked around a bit.

    Split: Off topic about Harleys

For some reason the Harley guys like to burn their Daymakers on high beam with the 'fog' lights going all the time.  They can be blinding in the daytime.

The rear pads don't have pins.  IIRC the rear pads just ride in slots on the caliper.

    bike eats headlight bulbs

I found the Philips Xtreme Vision had good light output and lasted a long time. Not sure if they still do, but when I took the MSF course, they suggested for daytime riding with the high beam on.

    FJRF003.1: Ignition Switch

I changed the damn switch twice on my '06, once for the recall and later after getting the 19 code.  First time I contacted a person who shall remain un-named who worked at a dealership (great guy).  He sent me the parts and tech bulletin and I did it myself at about 20K miles.  Yeah, the bolts...

Hey, we are around the corner in Deale, MD.  If you ever need anything or need the boat checked on (storm, hurricane, etc) or want to shoot the bull, let me know.

I thought the big race crash was bad.  This was Moto2:

That crash was crazy.  Val and Mav had angels looking out for them.

    Battery replacement

I had a Shorai in my '06 for 7 or so years.  I ride year-round in MD.  Only issue was when temps dropped below 30 degr.  Bike is kept in a garage.  Some mornings it took about 6 attempts to start the bike.  The Li battery warms with each attempt.  I would put the aux lights on for a minute or so...

    Concours or FJR

Pretty much the same as what's already been said.  Didn't ride a Connie, just sat on it at the dealer and at shows.  Too big.  Bad mirror placement.  Bad maintenance factors.  KPASS was sort of an unknown for reliability.  Just didn't fit or 'feel right'.

Where can the ABS test harness be purchased?

A female connector spade fits perfectly across the pins.

Not a bad race, actually some excitement.

ABS indicator light, burnt? + Brake drag?

A female connector spade fits perfectly as a jumper.

    PIAA slim horns

I'll have to go look, but I think it was a top radiator mount bolt near where the old 2nd horn used to be mounted.
