Does SE mean Richland? Dont forget a Spudnut. Are you going to get as far north as Mt Baker? The road to Artist Point will have you looking in your view mirror to see the road ahead. There are lots of PNW forumites if you have BC/WA questions. -Steve

Ok here goes. The links are Google map route plans for each day before I left. Some days played out exactly as planned and others didnt. For example, didnt bother with Forest Gump Point, too hot (Day 6) Also didnt bother listing the "there and back" days. Unless you live in southern BC, they are...

I think its a better doughnut. I didnt know about spudnuts until about 15 yrs ago. East coasters have no idea what you are talking about. There are unfortunately still some un-cultured heathens living in Canada/America that cant tell the difference between a spudnut and a lug nut. I'll bet...

Some final thoughts - The heat was a real challenge. The FJR has too much weather protection when its 95F+. At least for me. Standing on the pegs at speed so some air could run thru my gear was helpful. A literal lifesaver - This half gal water jug sits on the passenger peg, secured with the...

Day 13 Twin Falls to Richland WA. About 400 miles in hell. This was taken in the driveway of the hotel in Richland, in the shade. Anyway, passed thru the 50th Parallel so I know home is getting closer. Crossed the Columbia at Umatilla, all the spillgates at McNary Dam were wide open. -Steve

Day 12, the fun stuff is over. Leaving the North Rim late yesterday I made it to Richfield UT before the heat made me stop. Today, no photos, just interstate, construction zones and temps between 90 & 100. Ended this day in Twin Falls. -Steve

Day 11 was to be the first day of the return journey. But I couldnt leave without seeing Angels Window, and the other viewpoints along Cape Royal Road that I missed yesterday. I wanted to see Rosevelt Pt, Vista Encantada, and Wallhalla Overlook. The rain held off long enough. “We’re going to...

Day 10 Goodbye to Durango, where they have to paint “Stop Here” behind the intersection stop line, I presume to remind Colorado drivers to actually stop. Approx 250 miles north west on US 160 is a pretty boring ride thru scrub and rolling rock. There are perhaps a dozen interesting things to...

Day 9 - thought I would take it easy today. Slept in a bit, did laundry in the morning cleaned the headlights and taillights, etc. A week of getting my *** fried every day is taking its toll, plus the elevation is kicking my fried ***. In the afternoon I had booked the Cliff Palace tour @ Mesa...

I appreciate the kind comments and the thoughtful suggestion. I have been to GC South Rim enough times to learn not to go in peak season. The Grand Canyon is like Niagara Falls, you have to see it for yourself. -Steve

Day 8 begins at a wonderful 60F. Leaving Durango, heading west on 160 to Mancos, then 184 to Dolores, the beginning of the San Juan Skyway. Mancos is high desert, rock and scrub. Dolores is what I suspect is called alpine forest, there is even a sawmill just outside of town. On to 145 following...
