    My Russell Day Long

I think the usual seat height set up is both frt and rr on the same setting. The bottom of the seat should be parallel with the top of the plastic side panel. Thats how Russell installed the seat when I purchased it. However, if its working for you, “ride more, stress less”, as its often stated...

    FJR 1300 Rear Trunk

Bro If the top case you are considering is the smaller one, (39lt 2011 & up) it fits. If its the larger one (55lt) then you need to change out the rear rack, and it seems that part is hard to come by, per postings on this forum. Make sure you get the lock, and key. If not, you will need to...

    Metal valve stem source

The oft quoted size for FJR is 11.3mm mounting hole. Hoping for confirmation that an automotive 11.5mm stem will work. -Steve

    Metal valve stem source

I very much appreciate the quick reply. Plse school me. Your suggestions, and all the others I found that match my criteria on Amazon are marked for automotive use, not motorcycle. I presume the mounting hole is a different size ? -Steve

    Metal valve stem source

I have searched and been unable to find a source for a black straight metal valve stem. (that is in stock) Many sources for offset stems. Any suggestions appreciated. Thx -Steve

    Gen 4 Hi/Lo beam circuitry

If I understand what you are trying to accomplish correctly, this thread might suggest one method to consider. -Steve

Looking to replace my RT. Have a few questions.

Ask your local dealer(s) if there is a factory demo day coming up. Maybe the timing will work out for you. There are two OEM top cases, 37 & 50 lt. The smaller fits the OEM rack. The larger requires additional mounting bits and (minor) cutting of some tupperware. I believe another forum member...

    UK model 2018 AS

You might note this thread is from 2018. Perhaps a better idea would be to start a new thread asking other AS owners their opinions? There a few around that are active on this forum these days. -Steve

I rode my new FJR home from the dealer today - Clunk/rattle!/lower fairing issue?

As already noted, the dealer installs the front tire/wheel. Check everything related, pinch bolts, axle nut, caliper bolts, etc? -Steve

I rode my new FJR home from the dealer today - Clunk/rattle!/lower fairing issue?

Congrats on new bike. Off topic, but anyway, make sure you get the third lock set in case you ever purchase an OEM top case. On topic, ignorant guess, but is the battery tied down correctly? -Steve

Question: Can any Gen 3 owners check the rear fender saddlebag covers for me

Oh I get it. I have pd way to much to replace the YAMAHA black padded stickers on the saddlebags. Put the saddlebags back on and ride further, thats my solution. . . . . :) -Steve

Question: Can any Gen 3 owners check the rear fender saddlebag covers for me

I agree there are two different parts. Right side are marked FR. Left side marked RR But I have to ask, why bother? You really hate those cut outs? -Steve

    Gel in seats

Just another gel opinion. The gel insert will pick up heat from both the engine and the sun and hold it. On a ride with say 22-25C temps, your privates will be med rare by the end of the day. The seat will still be warm 2 or 3 hours after you park for the night. Just my 2¢. -Steve

    Givi 58 Top Box

Two FJR’s, both sizes of OEM top cases, over 250,000 km’s, never noticed any issues because of the top case. (Long trips mosly, occasional in town shopping) If your buffeting is head/helmet, then I suggest you begin your personal search for ‘best windshield’. I’m on my 6th, I think I’m finally...

    E15 / Unleaded 88 in 2008 FJR1300

Given this statement - (and the comments about the variable % of ethanol) I wonder that if the fuel map accommodates E10, why it wouldnt also be happy with E15? Again, ignorant speculation. -Steve

    E15 / Unleaded 88 in 2008 FJR1300

No I wouldnt either. Just suggesting the warning may not be be based on mechanical issues/concerns. -Steve

    E15 / Unleaded 88 in 2008 FJR1300

An ignorant thought - The owners manual warning may have come from Legal. Yamaha may have not bothered to emissions certify E15 fuel. -Steve
