    Socal Tech Day

Remind me of the schedule for the day (knowing that you have every last detail carefully planned). We're coming for the food and the entertainment, so around about what time should we show up?

    Texting while driving

And wasn't a learner permit mentioned? as well as knowingly driving without insurance? More bad choices. Manzanares told police she was not texting or talking on her phone while driving. This is the part that really gets me. If, as she says, that she wasn't texting or talking on the phone...

    A Solemn Anniversary

RIP Jordan, from one member of a grateful nation. You paid the price of our freedom.

Let's do a Group Ride of Costa Rica in 2012 with MotoDiscovery.

I've ridden on the back of a GS. Quite a comfortable ride, but we didn't go off road. Speaking of Costa Rica, it's a matter of hours until I leave for that beautiful place. Sadly, there is no motorcycle involved (yet).

Hope you can make it Joseph. Long time, no see.

    Socal Tech Day

Andy and I can come later on. What kind of time are you serving the food? and what would you like us to bring?

    Socal Tech Day

I expect there to be a lot more of us doing that, than fixing bikes.

    Members Pets

As of today, we have one less furry friend to love. Tommy arrived on our doorstep in 1997 at about six weeks of age, according to the vet. He knew that we were suckers for cute kittens so he moved on in and stole our hearts. The older cats tolerated him. A few years later, two kittens joined...

Sounds good. I'm guessing that I'll be designated driver. You want just Andy? or you want to challenge Martin too?

    Vehicle registration fees gone wild

We feel your pain, Mr Carver. Our bikes are our everyday transport but the Jeep and the truck are our back up. The truck (which is only used for hauling the trailer on desert trips) is classed as a commercial vehicle. Ouch!

    Lane Sharing question for Cali

It sure is a scary feeling when THEY come to share YOUR lane. Been there, done that, had the palpitations. I guess it comes down to having 360 degree awareness and being willing to concede that right of way goes to the biggest, most stable vehicle.

    Anza Borrego Desert and Gliders

Nice photos. Gotta love that area. We have the privilege of being able to go down there every other weekend. We throw the dogs and the bikes in the trailer then go find a nice patch of sand to make camp. What better than some R+R, enjoying the scenery, riding the bikes, playing with the...

    Remembering a great instructor

I got that saddening email yesterday too. Paul was a stand-out kinda guy as a Streetmasters coach. We had the pleasure of spending time with him at a birthday party, some time after our class. He was a person who you could talk motorcycles with forever and then some. I had no idea that he...

    SOCAL Tech Day

If you make plans for another camp out, let us know. We will be away (camping) for the tech-fest.

    Advanced MSF Course ?

Some of the basic bad habits are not-compatible with riding an FJR successfully (for long). For example, bad posture will make itself known as soon as you start riding past the bar on the corner, once every two months. Poor braking and cornering techniques don't do well with this kind of bike...

    SOCAL Tech Day

Pictures will be expected, on the forum. We have a date with the desert, otherwise would be there to take and post the photos.

Back Agony - how to deal with it?

You're saying you have an *** as WELL as all the sheep? And here was I, thinking that we were talking about modifications to the FJR to make a rider more comfortable.

Back Agony - how to deal with it?

That depends on your build. If you're smaller than average you'll benefit from having the bars closer to you and vice versa. It was a no-brainer for me since I'm unusually short with very short arms. I sit right up to the tank to even reach the stock bars. Heli-bar risers moved my bars up...

    Now it is personal.....

Sending karma, vibes, prayers and anything it takes to help Tyler, his crew mates and the people of Japan. I don't think we can have any clue how terrible this is for them. Thank goodness that there are brave, upstanding souls who are heading that way, to help out.

    Advanced MSF Course ?

The ERC doesn't introduce much, if anything that isn't on the basic curriculum. If you've never taken the basic class, or you've collected some bad habits along the way, the class will be worthwhile. If you're motivated to set yourself up some cones in a parking lot and practice drills, you...
