Love that photo Tyler. You find the coolest pictures.

Seriously, a BMW. I did my research last time around and the 650 GS was the winner. The market hasn't changed much except that the 798cc twin is now available. Basically, I want a naked bike that has some off road capability. It has to tolerate low speed tip overs in the dirt without breaking...

Lol! Now I understand why Motorad gear is priced the way it is. Those two movies are awesome. Very entertaining apart from the stupid publicity stunt of the rookie rider wife coming along. If nothing else, they will give you an idea of what the bike can do when you have a support crew and $$...

    Penguin on the mend

Today was THE big day. Six weeks from that fateful day, when the wild pack of Zombies dragged me from my bike, I had the cast removed from my leg. Since the doc said no weight bearing at all I've been essentially confined to bed for the last six weeks. I was able to get into a wheelchair but...

Unless you're a super confident and skilled rider, be wary of going off road with the plastic side bags. Mine have always been left in the hotel / tent / home when we've gone off road because I was afraid of breaking them. Andy has the aluminum ones which are what I want for my next bike. Also...

What he said, from me too.

Wow! Tough crowd isn't it? You've already got the good seat. Did I see hard bags? Don't make the mistake I did of getting the plastic ones. Engine guards. Extra lights. GPS. I got some after market foot pegs that are much less slippery when muddy than the stock ones (learned the hard way about...

    Bad News

Very sorry to hear this. I've recently learned what it feels like to go down but can't imagine how much worse it would be with a passenger. Glad to hear that JET 's injuries are not so bad (in perspective) but will be sending prayers for the lady.

    Hey SoCal! Let's do something!

Tech day? Lunch? With the help of my driver, I can do that. Still not mobile yet but I start re-learning to walk next week. They should be letting me drive soon although riding a bike is a long ways away.

Getting cuter by the day. I can see a road trip to Arizona in our future. This looks like a friend that we'll have to meet one day.

That's a nice size for a dog. Our Siggy is now the little guy at about 63lbs. Lucy, who comes to us at the weekends from our daughter is well over 70lbs and growing. Zeus is the big guy at 110lbs. He's scrawny thin but still a big dog.

    Silver Penguin update.

How cool is that? As far as I know, our china cabinet doesn't boast anything of that caliber (yet). Do they carry those at Walmart? Wouldn't you love to see the ammo guy's face if I asked for them? His sense of humor departed a long time ago. He sells ammo at Wallyworld and deals will...

    Silver Penguin update.

Thanks for the encouragement Dave. Since I have very similar hardware, does that mean that I can ride a skillfully as you do now? I did wonder about asking the doc to put a slightly longer rod in the bone so that I could use that side for holding the bike up. How cool would it be to have an...

    Silver Penguin update.

Will be talking to the insurance guy soon. I have some Olympia gear and love it. Great quality for an excellent price. Unfortunately, their stuff is all off the shelf so he sleeves and pants were horrendously long on me. I did get them shortened but the pads are in the strong place for my...

    Silver Penguin update.

Looking forward to rearranging some dirt. It's so much softer to fall onto, even under a 250lb bike. I counted how many times I fell off, for a while but the number got too big to keep remembering. It's just a part of the package to fall off now and again, in the dirt. As I become more adept...

    Silver Penguin update.

Thanks to all for the outpouring of love and support after my recent get-off. When I was feeling lower than low, it cheered me up to hear from all of you great people. It really did make a difference. Since Eureka, I haven't ridden much due to the heat. My Roadcrafter is one awesome suit but...
