An Illinois Yankee in King Richard's Court

Gotta do it, one of these fine days. Especially now that it's not desert season for a while.

Great ride report, Tyler. Love the pics. Looks as though a good time was had by all.

Score One for the Harley Tribe

Agreed. I had a long, and sad phone call to the BMW emergency line, where the operator couldn't understand the difference between a jack and a centerstand (I had a flat,on a tubed tire). They offered a tow to a BMW dealership in either Phoenix or Tucson - when the dealerships opened the next...

    Spoiling for California

We certainly do have it pretty good, as your pictures demonstrate. Then of course, there is the traffic...... but your beautiful pictures show what a great place this is to live.

Thanks for that clarification, Skooter. Interesting discussion on STN, as you said. Clicky here. (link to discussion)

    Malorie's Law

Thanks Don. I'm sure that the AMA will take a balanced look at all the facts, then go to bat on behalf of fair treatment for all motorcyclists. That's one of the things we pay our dues for.

    Malorie's Law

I read several articles, and get the impression that both the rider AND the passenger have to be over 18 and BOTH have to have an 'M' endorsement. There is an exception if the passenger is a licensed instructor, although how you could be an instructor without a motorcycle endorsement seems odd...

    Malorie's Law

I've just read something on Facebook that concerns me. Since FB is not the world's most reputable source of information, I'm asking for a discussion here to see what my forum friends know. Recently a young Texas woman. Malorie Elise Bullock died in an accident where the rider of the sport bike...

    Red Light Camera

DD got a notice from the Irvine toll road people, with a similar message. She does live locally but the ticket was supposedly for a 1950's hearse which can barely crawl across the street on sweeping day. It is certainly a distinctive vehicle, which is probably forbidden to be driven in Irvine...

Loving your pictures. What a great ride report. Some familiar scenes there, such as Sedona, the Cameron Trading post, Mingus mountain and Jerome. Wonderful roads on a bike. When we came home from the first NAFO, our plan was to spend the night somewhere around Durango or Cortez but we didn't...

Ugh. I'm so tired of the Fair Weather poseur doo-rag "bikers"

Maybe we're snobs, but I got out the door with my brand new BMW for under 10K. I don't have a **** at all. Maybe that's got something to do with it. I do ride to work five days each week. Just yesterday, one of the security guys commented on my Roadcrafter. We had a nice conversation about...

The right Sport Touring bike does not exist

Gotta get my 2 cents in here. I'm 5'2" with a 26" inseam. I've put about 30K miles on my FJR, which was lowered with Kouba links somewhere along the line. Like MEM says, you have to plan ahead a bit more when your options are limited. I love my FJR dearly and no other bike I've ridden has...

    Socal Tech Day

That's amazing mileage for the truck. Hope our F350 can do that. We chose the diesel hoping it would be a bit easier on fuel (now that diesel is more expensive than premium gas). Andy hasn't spoken yet, nor has he gotten out of bed as of the time I left for work this morning. He is...

Gross! That vision is even nastier than what we watched, live. I have a feeling that Andy may not be loving life this morning, but he's in the care of the dogs, and I'm at work.

Gracious thanks to RIchard for a very well hosted event. It was great seeing everyone and the food was wonderful. Can't beat the live entertainment, especially later on. On that note, hope the pressure washer was able to take care of the evidence. I really enjoyed the time spent with...

Let's do a Group Ride of Costa Rica in 2012 with MotoDiscovery.

Of course you have my permission, but a minor correction. Andy hasn't been to Costa Rica yet. He stayed home with the puppies. A yoga retreat isn't his kind of thing. Perhaps we'll go together one day, and rent bikes. It would appear to be a perfect place to do so.

I'll translate for Richard, since I'm one of the few that can understand what he says. (Then Andy can translate for me). I'm not so sure about being a designated driver if there are going to be man thongs involved. If those MUST be seen, an alcohol filter is needed. Better keep them covered up.

You're welcome, Don. It sure is a wonderful place to visit. Your ability to speak Spanish will come in handy for your trip although we were able to get by very well with a smattering of Spanglish.

Here are a few photos, taken during my visit to Costa Rica last week. Clicky here And then here The roads just cry out for dirt and/or adventure bikes. Many of the roads we traveled on were unpaved. For our Zip-line outing, the organizers sent one SUV plus and older pick up truck. Several...

Let's do a Group Ride of Costa Rica in 2012 with MotoDiscovery.

Here's a photo from my vacation, last week. The GS was parked on the beach in Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. It wasn't mine though. I snapped the photo because the bike stood out dramatically amidst all the under 200cc bikes around. Sure is a great place to travel to.
