Front End Dipping when applying front brake

Check out Race Tech's spring calculator. You can plub in your year FJR and weight and see what the stock spring is (in kilograms) and what you should be using to have the correct preload adjustment range. Click HERE to go to the spring calculator. Link is at the top of the page.

    Misfire at steady cruise

You say that you can "hear" the missfire but can you feel it during a ride? My 05 has a slight burbble sound from the stock exhaust but it does not actually missfire when riding. Also, lean surge and a lean misfire are 2 different things. The lean surge usually happens at a specific rpm can be...

    Powerlet Electric Jacket Liner

Selling my Powerlet ProForm electric Jacket liner and dual controller. This is not a new item but is in excellent condition. I would still be using it but my wife bought Powerlet's newer liner (RapidFIRe liner) for me at Christmas. The ProForm liner uses internal wires for heating. The liner is...

How to test for faulty ignition

A quick test of the ignition is easy--all you need is a test light. 1. Remove the 2 wires at one of the ignition coils (doesn't matter which one). 2. Connect the test light alligator clip to one of the wires and the pointy end of the test light to the other wire. 3. Crank the engine over...

    Motion Pro Mini Bleeder

I wrote the review for MCN. The mini bleeder really does work--the image of the bleeder in use was taken using my 05 FJR. I did not have to pay for the tool because I wrote the review, however I would purchase one ($20 well spent--a great tool).

New 2010 oil level too high

Holly ****! Does everyone on this thread NOT have a job or some other activity to occupy your time with? Does anyone obsess about the oil level in their car/truck in the same manner as their FJR? Here are the steps to fix the issue of the oil sight glass level: 1. Buy the 1 gallon size of your...

Vented Boots - Where to buy

Any one have a recommendation for a vented riding boot? I want to spend around $150. Short boot is ok.

    Voltage drop

Assuming the battery is not dead u should have a voltage drop around .1 to.3. If the bat was dead the amps would go up and so would the v drop. Also there is no voltage sense wire on the FJR.

    New TPMS Hit the Market

I was able to install the Orange unit on my 05 by grinding material in the drop center of the front wheel. However, at the Indy Power Sports show I visited the Orange TPMS booth and they had an FJR wheel with their new-revised sensor installed. The valve steem is longer and installation does...

    Brake, Clutch fluid service

It's really easy to change ALL the fluid in front, rear and clutch hydraulic systems. Motion Pro makes a great tool (Mini Bleeder) that acts like a speed bleeder but is not installed on the bike. I reviewed the tool for MCN and it works great. Here is the link to Motion Pro's website Mini...

HELP! Stupid rear axle won't go back in

Sit behind the rear tire and stick you feet under it. While moving the tire up/down with your feet. Gently tap the axle into the rear drive. You'll find that wiggling the tire/wheel will eventually aligh all the holes with the axle as you tap with a hammer. It should not take much hammering...

    Fuel Pressure Reg

36 psi of fuel pressure without enough volume will cause a lack of power at full throttle. I have worked on 100’s of cars/trucks that had a bad fuel pump that could produce good pressure. The engine would run good at part throttle but not at full. I used a digital lab scope to look at the wave...

    Fuel Pressure Reg

The 36 psi is only half the story. Even if fuel pressure is at 36 psi, the volume of fuel delivered from the pump may not be enough to provide full engine power. I worked for Snap On's tech line and when a vehicle had a symptom of "lacks power at full throttle" both fuel pressure and volume were...

    Engine miss

I've read through all the posts and I can't tell exactly what's wrong with your bike? From what I read I don’t think anything is wrong (you must have lots of free time on your hands). Holding the throttle steady in neutral as a diagnostic tool is useless as there is virtually no load on the...

    Low compression. Head gasket failure?

Nowhere have you mentioned the percentage of leakdown from your testing. A leakdown tester usually has 2 gauges (one that measures the air pressure from the air supply (air compressor) and the other that measures the pressure in the cylinder. To get a reading you use the percentage of cylinder...

    HID conversion--Gen!

On my HID conversion I run one headlamp (the left one) on low beam only. The right side switches from low to hi--a good compromise as the hi beam (both left and right) hid kind of sucks.

    HID conversion--Gen!

Converting from stock lighting to HID will not save much wattage. The ballests use around 4 amps each. (about 55 watts, same as the stock 55 watt bulb) Once they warm up I think the amps may drop to 3.8 or so (that's what I measured on my installation). The light output is worth the conversion...
