    It's Not a BMW, Honest!

I returned from a STOC rally (Spearfish, SD) last month. Had similar questions from several riders including two HD riders. I have so far resisted the impulse to be snarky.

    2013 hard downshifting

I have only a thousand miles on my 2013. So far, the only thing I have seen is a pronounced "clunk" into first gear on the first time after a cold start.

    Adios FJR

At 67, I just picked up a nearly 2013 (about 600 miles) FJR for $3K off list - just too good to pass up. It is still a bit of a handful at really low speeds, but I discovered that I can pick it up if I need to (don't ask). As a noob here, I can say that it is more important that you ride than...

    Brake light wire

Some of which may be right.

    Disappointed in FJR headlights

    Been there, done that - twice: 1967 - 650 cc 1965 BSA Thunderbolt 1970 - 650 cc 1970 Triumph Bonneville

    Anybody Know Why?

My almost new '13 had the mudflap installed. I checked. As far as the heatshield is concerned, I asked. Dealer and I concluded that maybe it interferes with the center or kick stand.

    Interesting sales encounter

A couple of weeks ago I went down to the closest dealer to my house. Walked in and looked around. Saw a lot of cruisers, dirt bikes, ATV's, and some watercraft. Told the guy behind the counter that I was interested in buying an FJR. After that, for some reason (probably because I wasn't...

Download source for 2005 FJR workshop manual

One likely possibility: You are trying to unravel a really nasty electrical problem. One pretty unlikely possibility: You need to delve deep into the mechanical innards.

Gen 3, Usual lack of grease !

A member on the other FJR forum bought a badly neglected FJR. When he tried to remove the driveshaft from the U-joint, he discovered that it was apparently rusted to the U-joint: https://www.fjrowners.com/forums/9-fjr-technical/14089-drive-shaft-stuck-u-joint.html An extra 10 minutes of work...

Broke My 14 a Little but Checked Drive Shaft Grease

I hear that this is not unusual. I expect to be getting a new FJR in 2 or 3 weeks. Checking the rear drive is one of the things at the top of the list.

    photography on your FJR

"Bridge camera"? So that's what them things are called. I have an Oympus SP-something or rather with an extra set of Li-Ion batteries and a couple extra memory cards in a Lowepro case. When I get my bike, it will go into the tank bag. Good little camera. Up - uses AA batteries, down - D, not...

Fastest Tourer? FJR takes a respectable 6th place

And if I recall my time growing up in Illinois farm country, of those four gears, it really only needed three of them.

Interest In Canyon Cage Group Buy

I just ordered a set from Chrome World about 10 minutes ago: https://www.chromeworld.com/2013-yamaha-fjr1300ae-parts/body-and-chrome/mc-enterprise-canyon-cage-1200-410 Full set front and rear for Gen III ran about $415 - not bad, not great. I will let you know how quickly they arrive.

Farkles off the shelf and onto the bike

Dennis, will the 3 gallon compressor work for mounting new tires or do you need more air?

SPLIT: Off-Topic Rainbows Somewhat About Seats But Definitely Not the OP

Kind of splitting hairs, aren't you? How many of us really ride multiple 1000 mile days?

    "Seafoaming" your FJR?

Is carbon buildup really a problem in FJR engines?

FJR vs Connie Head to Head in RoadRUNNER

Less than 6 months ago, we finally got rid of our old car, a '91 Camry. It also lacked "personality". However, in the 22 years we owned it, it had stranded my wife once - a cracked battery cell leaked and ate the battery ground. The same kind of reliability is why I have chosen an FJR. Plus, I...

    My new ride, 2014 ES

I figured that a new, high demand model would not be discounted much, if at all, without doing a lot of traveling. And then, airfare would eat up a substantial part of the savings. I just checked my card file. I met Harold at the Dallas motorcycle show. Thanks.

    My new ride, 2014 ES

Can I ask where you bought it, the waiting time, and how much you paid for it? Oh, wait. I just did.
