    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Hello! Going to firing up the OK Joe tomorrow as the kids/grandkids are coming over for the Memorial Day Holiday. Planning on doing 2 racks of pork ribs (using Meathead’s Memphis Dust); 2 Tri Tips (1 with Montreal Rub, 1 with Triple S Seasoning for a grandson who can’t have garlic), and maybe...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Went for a 255 mile ride yesterday in 66 degree temps through the Central Cally foothills. Water everywhere!, Biknflyfisher

Incriments On The Fjr Temp Gauge

Well, there you go - I was not aware there was a temp readout on Gen 3+. Very cool feature….. Biknflyfisher

Incriments On The Fjr Temp Gauge

Yes, I’m referring to coolant temp. How are you determining that temp reading? Perhaps you have something mounted on your bike besides the factory temp scale.

Incriments On The Fjr Temp Gauge

So you are claiming that on a 90 degree NC summer day your bike runs at 160 fully warmed up?

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Anybody got their smoker running today? I had contemplated smoking a pork shoulder but was scheduled to rain in Central Cally, so I passed on the thought. Raining now…… Biknflyfisher

    First 2023 Ride

Thanks for posting up Carver. My wife and I are in Cambria for the weekend (in the cage) and we could see how high the rivers were during the storm by detritus left along the banks. Up in the mountains (on the way to Opolo Winery) there was water in every little gully and creek bed. What an...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

I’ve been watching a bunch of You Tube videos on smoking brisket, and I haven’t done one myself since last summer, so I’m getting in the mood to do the “King of BBQ” soon…… My last effort was a good one, but I’m looking to improve to great. My stockpile of oak to run in the OK Joe is almost...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Hey Knife - I’m going to make a batch of your 6 bean chili tomorrow. I have a smoked tri-tip in the freezer that’s now thawing for the meat component. I have done your chili several times and it’s an outstanding recipe. Biknflyfisher

    Best BBQ Joints

If you are driving on Highway 395 along the east side of the Sierra Nevada in CA, look for the Copper Top BBQ in Big Pine. Not going to claim it’s the best BBQ ever, but it’s pretty dang good and the scenery is awesome!

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

The pipe on that smoker is huge - like the exhaust pipes that knucklehead kids put on diesel pickups now.

    Sherman Pass: A Great Ride!

The west side of the pass from the Kern River up still bears the scars of being nuked in the “McNally Fire” from 2002. I haven’t ridden it yet on the FJR, but I remember it took seemingly forever on the FXDX to get from Sherman Pass to Hiway 395…… Thanks for the write-up! Biknflyfisher

    FJR1300 top speed?

140mph indicated crossing the dry lake before starting the climb to Panamint Springs Resort. The scary thing was, it was still accelerating when I backed out of the throttle. I firmly believe it would have hit 150 and kept going…. When I got off the bike at Panamint Springs, my knees were shaky...
