    Roger Van Santen needs help

No clue. Roger's spot track shows him making tracks so he's on his way with the extra battery rig. Thanks to all that offered help. He figured this would get him and his bike home the quickest.

    Roger Van Santen needs help

I just posted this to the ldrider list: 4-11-2010 Roger is stuck in Cody, Wyoming riding the Dam Tour with what he thought was a bad battery on his FJR. A replacement battery is not charging and he's bump started the bike a couple times but getting charging voltages below 10 volts. Its...

    No Mar changer

I bought a NoMar Pro model also and its been bolted to my garage floor for several years. Between the FJR, 3 XR650Rs, my son, and friends its seen quite a few tire changes. Used it when OCFJR tried his first darkside experiment. Works great for bikes and I'd certainly consider it again if I...

    Rich's cycle seat

I have approximately 140K miles on my leather seat from Rich's, very similar in appearance to SM's. Rode up in January of '03 and had Rich build me a seat with backrest for my '03. The seat was transplanted to my '05 after totalling the '03. I've been extremely happy with my seat. Its gone...

Weekends were made for good clean debauchery

This should be interesting...I'll stay tuned. My own pictures are posted here: Gfest 09 Roger and I rode home through Crater Lake and then took 138 toward Roseburg before cutting north on twisties to Sutherlin. Absolutely no traffic to speak of until we made a break for home on I-5. Hope...

Ignacio In the Iron Butt Rally

...and me. My Wilbers, high zoot, top of the line, rear shock was installed and later resprung all in 2005 and ran the '05 IBR. While I was considering a rebuild before the '07 butt finances and time prevented it. Been riding it ever since and will deliver it to GP after a certain desert...

    Skullcandy Asym Earphones

Per RJ's post I've been using the Smokin' Buds as well and have really liked them. Fit under a helmet, no problem, and the expense is so small I carry a spare, just in case. Recently the local Cycle Gear has been selling them for $9.95 with a purchase. Bought a couple rear knobbies for the XR...

    DS options

Which Honda, XR650L or XR650R? I ride an XRR (own 3 and son has one) and love it. Cut the seat down myself to fit and its still tall but ya get used to it. Depending on your size there really is no replacement for displacement unless your inseam is shorter than my 29". dougc

Rick Mayer vs Rich's Custom Seat for FJR??

I'll add a couple pluses for Rich's seats. I've got over 120K on a leather version that still fits and looks good. Here it is when young: Seat and backrest I am a short guy so the seat is narrower and lower than stock. It's been used on both my '03 that was totalled at 48K miles and my '05...

How do you “Long Distance” guys concentrate???

I find the single biggest detriment to concentration on long rides is fatigue. To keep fatigue at bay I've done everything I can to make the bike as comfortable as possible with custom seat and mods to put everything I need within easy reach. This includes water and snacks besides all the...
