Is a Shoei X-11 that much better than an RF1000

Thanks, that is the best price I have seen.

Is a Shoei X-11 that much better than an RF1000

King, Thanks, for the help. On the X-11 I have tried several attempts on ebay, where the vendor offered "Buy it Now" or "Make Offer" and everytime I was countered with around $442. But $350, I could go for that. And I am only looking for a cheaper solid color. I even see the very slightly used...

Fuel Starvation 33 mi into reserve

Dang, you guys ROCK!!! :punk: I opened the tread with a simple observation, and 6 hours later, I have learned more about how the fuel gauge performs on my bike than anybody could expect to learn in several life times. And I am ok with that. Does that make me a geek? :glasses-smiley02:

Is a Shoei X-11 that much better than an RF1000

The RF1000 I can get new for around $280 while the X-11 new is around $440. But in the slightly used market (like worn one or two times) on ebay, there seem to be a lot more RF1000, so I think the price gap might be even bigger. My main concern is noise, and obviously comfort a close second...

    The oh so famous PC-III

Rich, I have an 06 with the stock map and the accelerator pump feature enabled. The bike runs extremely well. From everything I have read regarding the need to re-jet after mods, slip ons make little to no difference. I would suggest using the stock map, and then only worry if you do more...

Fuel Starvation 33 mi into reserve

Since reserve is supposed to have 1.45 gals. I thought I would avoid the gas station for a few more miles. At 45 mpg, and 1.45 gals in reserve. I should be able to go at least 60mi. But at 33 mi on the odo. I noticed a cracking sound coming from the cat, like when the bike is warming up and too...

New forum member & considering switch from cruiser to FJR- need help

Others may disagree, so I would like to here other opinions. There is always a certain rhythm or cadence to a vehicle. The speed at which a vehicle is happiest. You know that speed, when going slower the vehicle says "Come on, You can pick it up", and going faster the vehicle says "I don't...

    Steering Stem Nut Torque?

I just torqued my head bearings with the spanner (bought from Bike Johnny - it came airmail right away). On my relatively new 06, it took about 1/3 -1/2 of a revolution for the bottom nut to torque down. So the nut was loose. I think a clunking sound in the front end is related to this being...

    The oh so famous PC-III

Just updated the PCIII to include the AP option. It is a very suttle difference. It is only noticed when you are at Zero throttle and then crank it on. I think Jeff said it well. The pdf manual suggests two options for Sensativity/Cycles/Fuel - 75/15/20 (Sport) or 90/20/15 (Street). I think...

    The oh so famous PC-III

Jeff, Thanks for the review. This is the first I have noticed anything regarding the AP enable feature. I downloaded the enable program and will give it a try tomorrow. Anybody else use the AP enable?

    Throttle & PC-III

Am I missing something here? Can't you, on the fly, adjust the PCIII in either the Low, Mid or High rpm range, and this will adjust the current map across the board. So if you visit your friends in Colorado, you can lift up your seat and press a button several times and your good to go...

Another 06 owner given a full refund in the UK

One possible consideration (other than the PCIII which fixes the majority of the stalls), is the tach reads RPM about 200 too higher than actual. On my bike the rpm's are about 1000 - 1050 when the tach really shows 1200-1250. So if your bike is like mine and you set the idle to 1000 on the tach...

Good place to get a Shoei X-11

tstaff, that is a great lead, it looks like they are 419, but if I can find somebody out of CA then I can also save the sales tax. That's the best price I have seen. Thanks

Good place to get a Shoei X-11

Sounds kind of "high maintenance". Thanks for the offer. I am looking for a large. I really don't care about the color (just not black), solids are cheaper. And it might look a little weird with the full on radical "racer" paint job. I have tried on this helmet. Very comfortable...

Good place to get a Shoei X-11

It seems like both Shoei and Arai are trying their hardest to defend their pricing power. Arai will no longer sell through distrubutors that do any mail order. Like Chaparrel, and Shoei doesn't allow advertising anything but the suggested list price. My guess is that these Japanese helmet...

How in the Heck do You Solder?

Are you using flux? Usually I heat up the area to be soldered, stick the tip of the solder into the jar of flux to grap a drop or two, the watch the flux sizzle on the hot area to be soldered and then apply the solder to the hot joint. 2nd tip - heat the wire from the other opposite side of...

    Throttle & PC-III

Ditto on what Jeff Ashe said. In stock form if you roll on the throttle the bike doesn't react, because there is not enough fuel. But with the PCIII when you give even a little throttle the bike reacts. I used the stock map that came with the unit. The bike is a pleasure to ride now. I mounted...

    Kitty Toys

That's so funny, I almost crying. And yes you were very smart not to share with your co-workers the real expanation. It would be real hard to be taken seriously after that one. I sure there is some joke in there with the use of the word "*****". All Right I think I have it...

Who wants to Ride March 23rd

Fairlaner & all - Have a great ride. Would love to make it, that is some great stretch of road. I particularly like lockwood canyon, heading east to Mt Pinos, Frasier Park after 33 comes down out of the hills. Have Fun.
