JUst saw this thread (sorry). I disabled the vox. The GMRS does not key until I hit the button. I agree with someone else; VOX w/ the GMRS is not a good idea. The PTT is the preferred method w/ the GMRS.

Given that there will be a number of folks at EOM 08 w/ GMRS/FRS type raidios on their bikes; should we designate a primary contact chennel? When groups leave for their rides, they could move off to another channel or sub-channel.

Having ridden the trace a couple of times, I agree with donaldb. The trace on a bike is overated. the 50mph limit on a FEDERAL jurisdiction is a pain. AND..it does get boring in places. The only interesting riding, to me, is up close to Nashville.

I bought my Starcom from Jeff (w/ assorted cables). I run my intercom, sat radio, R/D, cell phone and GMRS (w/ ptt) through this unit. Other than taking a while to tune the setup, I've had no major problems.
I've dropped my FJR 5 times. Always at low to zero speed and ALWAYS due to my inattention or miscalculation. Having a ton of stuff in the topbox doesn't help :blushing: I've gotten very good at picking the thing up. To date, just a few scratches on the mirrors and one broken finger incurred...
I'll be in Friday PM and out on Sunday. It's about ten hours down from Pulaski. Makes for a nice ride down 220 and 219. I just hope it doesnt rain this year. Oh well, I found out last year that my rainsuit works well. :Snorkle:
