    Winterizing

Except for the non-ethanol part, essentially what I do. Come Spring, Im pretty much ready to ride. When I know Im going to burn through an entire tank of gas I throw in a couple ounces of fuel injector cleaner.

    Running weird

Upon removing my airbox ( to adjust the cold idle ) I discovered one of the intake boots was never seated properly ( from the factory ). Check your work.

    Cruise issue...

Ive installed a couple of CCS-100 on a few bikes. Over the years Ive seen two reoccurring problems give owners fits. If the CC didnt set, or cut out abruptly, it was usually residual voltage getting into the brake light circuit. If it didnt hold speed, especially on hills, its unable to...

    FJ-09 replaced by Tracer 900 ?

Am I out in left field on this? Not at all. In fact, if they made a version of the Tacer-GT based on the FZ-07, Id be all over it for those very reasons.

    Gold Wing update....any news?

You, sir, are perfect example of why I gradually moved away from Gold Wings. ( There was also the realization that I was too young ) I simply dont have the time or energy to have a discussion regarding what a person believes. FWIW, I am looking at the new Wing as a post-retirement ride.

    Gold Wing update....any news?

Ive had Gold Wings for 13 years and an FJR for 12 years. The FJR is a better motorcycle on every level that matters. Better handling, braking, acceleration, fuel economy, reliability, ease of service, cost of ownership, etc. Simply put, the FJR delivers the most satisfying motorcycling...

    Gold Wing update....any news?

They should be more ashamed for revealing their age.

if you buy fjr from Yamaha dealer?

Considering how reliable the FJR has proven to be over the years, Id rather spend the money on an extended ride or riding gear. My FJR hasnt seen a dealer in twelve years.

    Cruise issue...

I would first clean the solenoids and see it that helps. If theyre dirty it may not be able to hold vacuum.

    Electrical Issue

I suspect a loose/dirty/corroded connector between the dash and main wiring harness. Take every relative connector apart then clean thoroughly, squeeze in some dielectric grease and re-assemble. Tedious and time consuming but necessary to rule out connectors as source of troubles. I...

    Funky Flasher Issue

Cascading failures are usually not because of a single component such as the Signal Minder. I suspect a bad or deteriorating connector between the rear lights and main wiring harness. Start at one end of the bike and open, inspect and clean every relative connector.

Steering head socket vs spanner for setting torque

At least a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Steering head socket vs spanner for setting torque

Ross is correct. If the length of torque wrench, measured from center of stem, parallel to wrench, doesnt change, then torque values are the same with crows foot or socket.

Steering head socket vs spanner for setting torque

Just a reminder: The torque values stated in the FSM are for the OEM bearing and do not apply if you have swapped them for tapered rollers.

    09 FJR--two-up floppiness?

My FJR is the best two-up bike Ive ever owned. This coming from a guy thats spent 13 seasons on Gold Wings. Part of the reason was switching to a 190/55 rear tire and installing stiffer springs, front and rear. My first thought, although you didnt mention weights, is that your rear...
