Got it Ray. I need to get a DC amp clamp.

Not that I really need it, but why don't I have a DC amp clamp??? How could I have gone so long without one? Don't really need one to determine the starter is drawing high current. I was trying to start it with my truck battery.

It has really been a tech weekend for me. I spent all day working on Heidi's bike. I got under the tank today to the ignition plug. While I could get decent continuity, it was not good with just a little jiggle of the key to the point of opening up sometimes. I did find the main fuse blown too...

As always, it's on the calendar. Too soon to say. Not even sure what our Thanksgiving will be. Moved the MIL into an assisted living facility in NC last weekend. We may be down there for the weekend.

I picked the bike up Sunday and brought it to my garage. Preliminary finding is the ignition switch. I have to go a little deeper, but I am pretty sure that switch is the culprit.

And if you do go to the Cherahala you must take a ride out to Bald River Falls. I am sure the falls will be spectacular with all this rain.

That looks like a great deal. <9k miles? I should sell mine and buy this one. I would drop 40k miles!

I did recommend treatment regularly. I can do a leak down when I do the next clearance check.

Thanks for the kind words Andrew. It appears that the carbon cleaning was successful. The clearances all tightened up with 4-1 exhaust and 1-2 intake out of spec tight. Did the best I could with the shims I had to get everything close to the 70 percentile. 1-2 and 2-1 intakes were the only ones...

Ditto to pretty much everything Rich said. I always bring my helmet in anyway, so not a big deal. Especially a $1k helmet! Not being able to use earbuds is my only complaint. I wear earplugs now and can still hear my music at speed, but not with any fidelity. I really love the integrated Sena too.

First, I never saw the oil that came out, so I can't confirm there was metal in it. It possible it was drained into a dirty pan. Second, the only problem I have confirmed is that 5 of the 8 exhaust valve clearances were out of spec (open) and the others were close. Oddly, 2 of the three that...

The bike is pretty much done. I have to do another valve clearance check. The bike will be back together this weekend and going home. I wasn't being sensitive. Remember it is very difficult to read someone's emotion from written words. (Unless, of course, it is explicit) It's all good. You won't be banned this time.

Well, before you start criticizing you might want to read all my posts. Leak down test was done and wasn't bad.

After charging the battery about 2-3 seconds of WO throttle with the fast starter syndrom it fired right up. Going to warm it up and treat for carbon and then redo the clearance checks.

Did I have the battery on the tender all this time? NO! Waiting for it to charge. No surprise that I had fast starter syndrome when I first tried it.
