Yo DC, next time take Death Valley road ( just a couple miles from Big Pine) it's paved for quite a while and you can see Eureka Dunes where the road turns to gravel. Good place to turn and head back out, it's a very scenic road with a nice Joshua Tree forest too.

Kudos Mark. That was awesome, love the dad and kid on the International Harvester H tractor. I have many an hour on one in junior high school.  Great to see people living again!!!

By October all bets are off concerning any western high passes. It should be nice but anything can happen. Your favorite weather app will be your best friend. Usually snow that early is gone in a day or two...usually.

Welcome to the club. I bought a 18 DCT Wing from a forum member here, added a Utopia backrest and all is good. BTW   Manual shift in sport mode while riding the twisties is a blast once you master the smooth throttle inputs.

Virginia Creek is far enough south it should not to be effected much by the Caldor fire. For perspective Reno and Truckee were clear as a bell around 4 pm today when I rode through of the way home from NAFO. I could see the smoke all going to Carson City and Fernley.  104 degrees and heavy smoke...

I had an 04 with 90k when Bambi totaled it.   My wife never like  the seating position and I found it to be a bit forward seating for me at 5'7 Replaced the totaled bike with a 08 wing that my wife and I really liked, and now have a 18 wing. Really prefer the upright comfort of the wing but...

Family commitments causes me to cancel my reservation for this year's YFO, I was hoping to be able to squeeze this in but it just doesn't pencil out.   I may ride down to say hello one evening if I can get a brief hall pass. Have a good time folks!
