"Abrupt off/on Throttle Reaction" Rider magazine

I rode my FJR yesterday for the second time since installing the the G2 throtttle and my enthusiasm for the device is reinforced. The bike is MUCH easier and more enjoyable to ride.

    G2 throttle cam installation

    >>'m also interested in a how did this work out for ya... can you post some before/after details?<< Oh, I guess I missed that Q. The change is very positive from my limited experience. Basically, what the G2 does is move and elongate the rapid input of throttle to a location...

Gen I vs Gen II Comparison

The '06 is wheelie inhibited by the longer swingarm if nothing else. But, I suspect it also carries more weight on the front tire, both actual and as a percentage of its total weight..

Gen I vs Gen II Comparison

Just to give all you arrogant pissing contest cry babies something to think about overnight, Motorcyclist's test numbers for an '03 ar 126.8 hp, 90.0 lb-ft of torque and turning the quarter mile in 11.02 seconds. Top gear, 60 to 80 was 3.65 seconds. So, we have slower results but more hp. than...

Advantages of the G2 are that you still have the stock part at resell time, you can go back if you want, and you can buy pre-cut swap out choices that have been tested. Lastly, the G2 should hold up better to a bar harness. All those who railed aginst buying a shop manual from the e-bay seller...

    >>Too me it was pretty damn cool to barely crack the throttle to pass cagers in town or on the freeway or heading onto an on-ramp or taking some long sweepers.<< It is a fact that the human mind can only deal with 2 or at most 3 things at a time. Just wait until the time you are...

    G2 throttle cam installation

It is about changing the throttle pull ratio by altering the throttle cable rate as the grip is rotated... might be a bit clearer. For the '06 I HIGHLY recommend them.

Thanks, tstaff... but I don't see a 300Y cam on that page... but if you use the page search function, there is one and it is only $25.

    G2 throttle cam installation

Agreed, Slowdude... piece of cake to install. I did exactly as you, except I used WD-40 instead of alcohol. Before reinstalling the grip using WD-40, clean the inside with something. I used throttle body cleaner, but make sure what you use is safe for the grip rubber.

Hmmm... did not realize there are differing cams to choose from. My 400Y might be better if the transition were longer. Off throttle to initial opening is just right. It still 'hits' but now at a higher throttle opening. How 'bout posting a pic of the two cams side by side?

Went for an hour or so ride in town... just where the throttle abruptness was most noticable. Verdict: I think this thing works! No way to tell for sure except putting more miles and time on the bike... but my guess is that the cure is here. Shame on Yamaha.

I just returned from the garage after installing mine. Piece of cake. Bar weight off, put a long thin screw driver under the throttle grip, squirt in some WD40, pull off the grip. Open the housing, give yourself some slack at the adjuster if you need it... do the reverse. Believe it or not, I'll...

    G2 throttle cam installation

Thanks, RR... I now see there is some adjustment (slack) available right near the grip end of the throttle cables via an adjuster. I'll let you know how it goes.

    G2 throttle cam installation

Ok, yesterday I received my G2 throttle cam to fix the abrupt throttle tip in on my '06 FJR. Today, I'm home sick with a chest cold and will be seeing the doctor later... but I'm well enough to go outside IF the installation is simple. So, a few questions: Does the bar end weight come off...

My "G2 gismo" arrived today... after just 3 days. Kudos to Sam at G2. Unfortunately, until a few minutes ago I was down with chills and fever... so I've not yet opened the package. But, I will before bed. ;-)

    SCAB DOWN!

    >>Me? I am fine. jwilly had to pick the beast up off of me, as it had my right foot pinned underneath by means of the right rear peg.<< Well, I'm jealous. When I fell on spilled gasoline at under 10 mph, I ended up with a seriously fubared ankle requiring surgery to fixate. Count...

    Avon Storms

I ordered a set of Storms yesterday, but won't be riding on them until I put on another 1200 miles or get a flat... whichever occurs first.
