Did I ever talk about how slow these bikes are?

Yeah, let's not talk anymore about Shaft Jacking.

    A Toast to BeemerDonS

Thank you Skooter. But damn you, you made me get all choked up and teary eyed too.

Did I ever talk about how slow these bikes are?

Bounce, I know it is a big joke about shaft bikes being unable to wheelie. Your Scientific Explanation in post #8 covered it pretty well. I will seriously say that when I got my '15 it "felt" faster than Pop's '07. It certainly seemed more willing to power wheelie than the '07 ever did. I...

Did I ever talk about how slow these bikes are?

Well you are a Good Sport and I like that. Glad you are here. FJR is not supposed to be as fast as a ZX-14. I figure the FJR is closer to the ZX-14 than it is to a GoldWing power wise but is pretty close to the GoldWing in comfort so that makes an FJR a wonderful compromise. I disagree about...

Did I ever talk about how slow these bikes are?

Perhaps we misunderstand the OP's intentions here. I see different options: 1. He is telling us that his FJR is much slower than his old BMW. This would seem obvious as everyone knows that BMW is The Best. 2. He is telling us that once he had someone smarter than him that actually could read...

My first take on Super Tenere

It is great to know that you are happy with the new bike. I have been thinking about leaving the FJR for a Super Tenere but I know that I would miss my FJR. Your excellent write up has helped me. It's probably silly, but the FJR community and the people on the different FJR forums are a big...

    Longer side stand?

Well I certainly wasn't trying to offend. I was just playing a little. But if it's going to be Serious... The Gen2 bikes had exactly the opposite complaint. We thought those stands were too long. Sitting on the bike with the sidestand down could actually cause it to tip over to the right...

    Longer side stand?

The side stand might not be the problem. It's probably the Oil. Or the Tires. Or the Tire Pressure. Or the Windshield. Or the Seat.

    Puddles on the Floor

My Friend, you are a Smart Man. I would never buy a refrigerator for the kitchen I cook in without the approval of Mrs. Redfish. Mrs. Redfish wanted all stainless steel appliances when we built the house. Mrs. Redfish likes to use magnets from our travels to attach pics all over the door of...

Smell / Hot Engine or Rubber type smell

Whatever you found, it was pretty cool of you to resurrect this thread and give us the answer. All too often there is help given and we never find out if the issue was resolved or what it was.

Thinking of moving to the FJR

@RideToEat No, I don't think the ES is superior to the A model. I say it works well and I prefer it for ME but as MCRIDER007 says above, the A model actually has a stronger rear spring. The ES is better than the stock ST1300 suspension in every way. It might work for you or it might not...

Thinking of moving to the FJR

I traded my beloved '04 ST1300 for a '15 FJR ES. I have never regretted it. I loved my ST1300 but the Gen3 FJR is a better bike to ride for me. Suspension on the FJRs from 2013 forward is far superior to the ST1300 although the remote hydraulic adjuster on the 1300 rear was nice. The ES...

Wheaton and airboss do Kalifornia (did we really do this?)

Interesting that this old thread got resurrected. I just recently read that Airboss was not doing well. And just over a month ago Wheaton had a bad crash that totaled his '13 FJR. Through a series of happy events one of his riding buddies flew to Oklahoma to pick up a 2013 FJR and rode it...

The Goodmans Ride California this July!

Paul, Pretty much anything you do will be The Right Thing. I know you say you have seen the Sequoias and I am just a little confused about your route from Lake Isabella. If you take Mountain Road 99 through Kernville and up the Kern River Canyon that is a really nice ride. If you are taking...

I've Been Unfaithful - To My FJR

Last year Pop and I each bought dual sports but kept our FJRs. There is a huge difference but Pop feels his new dirt bike experience has made his FJR riding improve. He also enjoys his FJR a lot more now that he has something different to make the comparison. I think we almost took the...

    '13 high Frequency Vibration

I agree with RossKean on all points. I will say that my '15 seems to have a high frequency vibration that I don't remember in Pop's '07. Mine is related to engine RPM and I notice it starts at around 75mph.

    Bought another Yamaha

I can barely play the radio properly so drums and guitars are not in my future. But it does please me that you folks are enjoying these instruments. Dave/08FJR4ME, please don't hit your boss. It just never ends well. Go ride your bike, play your drums or just vent to us. We will help...

    Oil analysis

Fred, I am extremely bothered by your unwillingness to address the real issue here. Will a K&N filter increase my...size? I semi-disagree with you about the carbureted engine's fuel economy suffering. Does the fuel not still follow the air? If the air flow is not there, the fuel will not...

    Oil analysis

Fred all of that is true and is good information but it has now become secondary in importance. I want to focus on Bust's assertion that it will increase the size of...my junk. I am still not comfortable with having FJRay or Old Michael do the measuring. However, if I can grow for just the...
