    2022 knocked over

I switched to Geico about 10 years ago. They have a reputation for being very difficult to deal with when you file a claim, but the price was the lowest I could find at the time. Well, earlier this year I bought a new vehicle for my wife and decided to look around for prices for insurance. I...

    I'm a little bummed out

Motor oil. fork oil, coolant, or brake fluid?

    Clutch Slipping!?

Well, since the oil you are using is motorcycle specific, and the hydraulic clutch system seems OK, then you are going to have to remove the clutch and see what the components look like. If they are worn then replacement is the only option. If they look good then a clean and soak may solve the...

    Clutch Slipping!?

C&C has the answer. Car oils have additives which do not play well with the wet clutch in your motorcycle. If you drain out the Mobil 1 and switch in something more motorcycle friendly you should see a difference, but it may take more than one change of oil. Personally, I have always used...

How far would you ride to grab lunch round trip?

Like many others who ride an FJR, I have ridden many, many miles to meet with other FJR riders for a meal. I suppose the only limit was how much time I had and who else was there. It was always a round trip because I always ended up back home eventually. Since you mention lunch, I would think...

    2005 FJR

I have a Wilbers rear shock and Wilbers springs in the fork of my '05. The shock with heavier than stock spring made a big difference and the fork springs also helped. Rather than spending the money on cartridges I experimented with a few different viscosities of fork oil to find the setup that...

    Single pin battery tender

You can always add the SAE connector to your battery so you can use the standard Battery Tender connector. The one with the rings that comes with a Battery Tender and already has an inline fuse is what I use. You can make up cables with SAE on one end and whatever you need on the other end. I...

GF wants bike -- help wanted

I don't know how I found this old thread. I normally just push the 'new posts' button and see what's there. Oh well, it's still good advice. o_O

GF wants bike -- help wanted

It is a good idea to start out on a dirt bike, but not everyone lives in an area where that is possible. My wife learned on my Kawasaki 500 back in the 70's and never crashed, but she never used that bike like I did. My oldest daughter started on a SV650S, second daughter on a Ninja 500, and...

2005 FJR 1300 in NE Texas!

I also have an '05. Mine has over 150,000 miles on it and hasn't been as clean as yours since 2007. Great machine.

    The problem with old bikes…

Very nice Vincent. We easily get spoiled by the capabilities of our FJRs. I suppose there are many modern motorcycles which have the same effect. Still, I appreciate vintage machines, historic homes, and many other things from the past. A lot of people must agree with that. Just look at the...

    I’m still around too!

Things are always changing, usually for the better. I like cheese. I like a good IPA better, but I'll look for Farmstead cheese and give it a try. All the best to you and your family.

    I’m still around too!

Hi Fred. Tell your son that he makes a very tasty IPA. Maybe I'll see you in Vermont next year.

    Food and cooking.

My wife is making the turkey because I tend to overcook it. I'll make sausage stuffing and a couple of pies.

    2022 Yamaha FJR

The good news is that there is an FJR for 2022. The bad news is that it is not updated.

    Still breathing

Good to hear from you. We did have some good times. I still enjoy life as much as ever, just not riding motorcycles these days.

    Still breathing

I still have my '05 FJR. I don't ride much anymore, so it is more 'storing' than riding. My daughter takes it to work once in a while and I make it available to close friends and relatives when they want to go for a ride. Here's a picture of it from EOM 2006. Mine's the blue one. ;)
