Pathfinder's 100,000 (Cert.) Miles in 1 Year Attempt

Tony On an unrelated note, I wanted to thank you again. My FJR is doing well thanks to the donor parts you provided to rebuild my damaged Gen 1. The left side of my bike is the "Tony side," complete with the florescent stripe from your bike. Of course it doesn't match the right side of my bike...

Coast to coast in 48 1/2 hours

Chuck. I really enjoyed gabbing with you at EOM. It was great to get away and do some riding. Also happy that I managed to win a battery tender at our annual dinner and raffle. We raised a good amount of money for a great cause that night, and my battery stays charged up as well. Hope to see...

    First Bike

Ha... my daughter rides a Triumph 900cc scrambler. This might not seem like such a big deal except that she's 5'2'' and 105 pounds. That is a lot of machine for a young lady her size. But she loves it and her and hubby own identical Triumphs: ya might see them cruising the streets of Seattle...

    Something for airplane geeks

Glad you chose to post this. Took a while to read, but enjoyed every word: a great post. A veteran of the US Army Air Corps, Dad turned 18 in the summer of '42. He's been gone now for 9 years, but I enjoyed every one of his war stories as I was growing up. I've shared this before on the forum...

Skooter and Brodie: Ha: two of my favorite people on this forum. Good to hear from you fellas again. FWIW, I certainly miss you both, and wish we didn't live so far away. But that's life I guess. I've not been riding the FJR much lately, been busy with helping people around here. Next week I'm...

Coast to coast in 48 1/2 hours

Wow: how things have changed. Was just thinking that I started this thread nearly 6 years ago. Well, I added another milestone to my bucket list: I visited Hawaii last week. Ha... how many people can say that they've done that? Pearl Harbor was just amazing. What a thrill to stand onboard the...

    Daughter needs a car

My Kathleen learned to drive in my F150 5 speed. She did fine with it. And indeed, NONE of her friends ever drove her own 5 speed that I know of. Her first car was a a little Ford Escort ZX2. That incredibly reliable little car got her through college, eventually making 220k miles: we sold it to...

    Too young to ride?

Completely forgot to update this thread. Little Allen is a week shy of his 4 month birthday. Born 9/19, his first 7 weeks were a struggle and he wasn't gaining weight. Thanks to many of you who promised to pray for the little guy. He's turned it around and gained a good bit, weighing in a 13 lbs...

1981 Honda CBX SuperSport followed me home...

Congrats on this new purchase. Your story brings back memories. It was the fall of 1978. I was itching for a new bike and it was time to step up from my 500cc 2 stroke. There were three bikes in my sights: the Yamaha XS1100, the Suzuki GS1000, and the Honda CBX1000. I read everything I could...

    Hydrophobic mirror film

Years ago I bought a product designed to wipe on the inside of my visor. It was supposed to prevent fogging. What i got was distorted vision when looking through the film. Likely not the same product, but I bought a pillock visor instead. Works very well.

    I used a non-OEM oil filter...hope my bike doesn't blow up!

Guess I was right: dumb question. Not one of my brighter moments: not worth taking the chance

    I used a non-OEM oil filter...hope my bike doesn't blow up!

It's no secret that leaking oil filters have been a problem for years on this forum. Hmm: here's a dumb question... Anybody ever consider slapping a used oil filter gasket on the leaking filter? Seems to me that this would take up the clearance, stop the leak and fix the problem. Free, simple...

    Daughter needs a car

I strongly disagree with the lightweight four door Corolla/Civic idea. Again, 16 year olds get in more accidents than any other age group. When this happens, every mom and dad get to thinking about the heavier car equation. You've seen enough accidents to know what i mean: this ain't your first...

    Daughter needs a car

AJ Wow, I can't believe your daughter is old enough to drive already. Where have the years gone? I've done a lot of research on this subject and I think I might be of some help here. As you know, a 16 year old is more likely to get into a fender bender than any other age group. This isn't any...

    Too young to ride?

Update on little Allen: Allen turned 6 weeks old today. However, he's only gained 1 pound since his birth. He was a premie and his little system is having a hard time adjusting to this big world. He just got home from a 3 day hospital stay to check for complications. He's been throwing up every...

    Lessons From Timmy

Phew: that was a read and a half. Thanks for posting. Looks like ya had a blast. I got a kick outa those moon buggy tires. Wonder how they'd look on the FJR??

    Grandson

Ha... it wasn't. Kelly gave brith about a week or 10 days after this picture was taken. The baby was 3 weeks premature, so we're being cautious at this point. He seems to be doing OK: so good so far.

    Too young to ride?

Ha... finally figured out how to post using flickr. Hurray for me and thanks to RossKean for his help. Below is a picture of Kelly taken about 2 weeks before the baby was born. We were joking around about taking her for a ride on the FJR. Of course we didn't do that, but this picture was the...

    Too young to ride?

Everybody's got a family, and mine just got a little bigger, as ittle Brian Allen was born to my daughter Kelly the day before I left for EOM in Maggie Valley. After spending a few hours at the hospital, I came home just in time to meet up with Brodie and head off to North Carolina. So now that...
