TIRES?? What tires are everyone running on their FJR?

PR4GTs: Riding 95% back roads, 5% slab I got 11,200 kms (6,720 miles) on the rear and 17,000 kms (10,200 miles) on the front. I could have pushed the rear another 500-1000 kms or so, but I changed them early because I wanted fresh tires front and back for a trip. I run my front tires at 41 psi...

    New convert

Welcome from NB, Canada. I, too, upgraded to my 2007 FJR when my 2004 ST1300 was totalled.

    Shaft Servicing Duration

I just looked at the Periodic Maintenance Schedule for my 2007 FJR 1300A (Gen2). There is no mention of a maintenance requirement on the shaft drive. Final gear oil should be changed every 25,000kms (16,000miles) or every 24 months. These recommendations may have been revised for the 2016 (Gen4)...

Difficulty starting with a warm engine

Hey, pa46nos! We have not heard from you for a couple of weeks. How are things progressing with your troubleshooting and repair?

    Post-valve adjustment issues resolved

This is what I use. Simple and works great. Just re-read the instructions for use each time you go to use it.

Difficulty starting with a warm engine

I had a very similar issue with my 2007A. A cold start worked fine. If I stopped for a short time (for example for fuel) then tried to start up, the fuel pump and all the dash lights and all the guages would work but when I activated the start button nothing happened. I then had to push the bike...

    Physics of Cornering...and Recovering

"Is this just a real-world example of V^2 / R? Where if you want R -- the cornering radius -- to be smaller, you have to increase your speed (V)?" Nope. Turn radius = MPH. The faster your speed, the larger your turn radius. Watch the video below, produced by the Yamaha Champions Riding school...

    The Repair and Upgrades Begin

I was wondering what there was to be found behind the headlights and nose cone. Now I know.

    fog/spot combo fork light source

This is for vzhq16: Apparently, there is no switch, relay or fuse included with the lights. So, how did you wire the lights? Also, where did you mount them. If it's not too much trouble, can you provide pictures, please?

    Gasolina Boot opinions please

I, too, have very wide feet. I don't know about the Gasolina boot. After decades of wearing motorcycle boots that were "OK" on the the bike but torture to walk in, I found these: https://www.klim.com/Outlander-GTX-Boot-3926-001?quantity=1&color=2144. I have used them for two seasons and I can...

Steering Head Roller Bearing - Upgrade or Boondoogle?

Sorry it took so long to answer these. 1-I did not remove the fairing. 2-I did not have to remove the radiator to get the steering stem out.

Steering Head Roller Bearing - Upgrade or Boondoogle?

I replaced the stock Yamaha steering head bearings with All Balls Racing brand tapered steering head bearings on my 2007A in Feb of 2021. That cured the deceleration "head shake" that I had on my bike at about 55 to 70 km/h that occurred when I was only very loosely holding the handlebars. Now...

    Signalling Fuse

I installed dual PIAA horns in my 2007A four years ago. I used the stock fuse and no relay. I have not had any problems. As for using a 10 amp fuse in place of a 7.5 amp fuse, I defer to RossKean on that issue.

Gen 3 , have to hit the starter button two or three times before bike starts. Use to start first click every time.?

What Whooshka said in post # 6. I had the same problem on my 2007A. It started with the same symptom that got progressively worse over last summer until the bike would not even start, eventually showing fault code 12. That sent me down a rabbit hole. It turned out that I needed new spark plugs...

Yellow Check Engine light turned and off then on and now off?

I have a 2007. I went through all the diagnostic codes just last month. If you do not disconnect the fuel pump connector, the fuel pump will run the entire time that you are running the diagnostic codes and the actuator codes. At best, this may drain your battery. At worst this may drain your...
