    Valve Adj. Survey

Bought my '07 with 49K Kms. No service records. Checked the valves at 54K Kms. All within spec. Will check again at 100,000 Kms.

Why Shipping to "the lower 48" Only?

I am in Canada. I just bought a brake caliper assembly off eBay. The price was $32USD. Shipping was $56.55USD that I had to pay before the part was shipped for a total of $88.55USD. This was paid upfront, online via credit card, so no real hassle for me and, I imagine, not for the seller...

    Rear Brake Caliper Assembly

I was removing the pins so that I could inspect and clean the pads and piston. It was difficult to get the pins moving and I was thinking about squirting on some "Liquid Wrench" penetrating oil figuring they were seized up with rust (even though there wasn't any evidence of that, externally)...

    Rear Brake Caliper Assembly

I need to replace the rear brake caliper assembly on my 2007 FJR1300A. For which years and models are these assemblies interchangeable? Do I need to look for one specifically for the year and model of my bike?

    Givi rack

Huh. My bike is a 2007. The original owner had mounted a GIVI top case on the OEM rack. When I switched out the OEM rack for the GIVI SR357, it was easy, peasy.

In serious need of maintenance manuals for my 07 FJR

I agree with JoeyL. Get the Haynes manual. I have both the Haynes (paper version) and Yamaha a factory service manual (electronic version). I find the Haynes manual much more useful. Here is the URL for the Haynes manual: https://haynes.com/en-us/yamaha/fjr1300/2001-2013-0. Just copy and paste...

    Tool for Throttle Body Sync

rbentnail says: "I have longed for one of those for quite some time but I could never justify the cost for using it once every 2 or 3 yrs." My local shop said that a throttle body sync would take 1.5 to 2 hours. Their hourly rate is $100CAN. A new Syncpro Carb Tuner is $145CAN at Amazon.ca. My...

    Steeringhead bearings.

I went with AllBalls tapered roller bearings. They work fine. I have no experience with anything else for comparison.

Bummer about the bike. I would have grabbed the CCT, but I am in Canada.

    Gps Recomendations

I had a TomTom. Apparently it is great in Europe (I wouldn't know). Not so good in North America. Very finicky when trying to plan a route. Updates were not easy. When the cable crapped out, I could not get a replacement; it would have to be purchased in Europe and shipped. I have gone over to...

    Getting back into bikes

I has a used 2004 ST1300 for 5 years. When it was totaled in an MVA, I bought a used 2007 FJR1300A. The ST has better wind and rain protection. It is a better bike for 2-up touring. It also has tip-over bars integrated into the factory design that work well (DAMHIK). The FJR is more sporty and...

    Seeking advice on first FJR

HA! I have to laugh. When I was 51 y.o., I, too, used to enjoy long-distance cycling. Then I got a motorbike. It was a new-to-me Honda 2004 ST1300A. I figured, as you do, that I could scout routes for cycling. Well, after spending the summer scouting routes and not riding those routes on the...
