    It happened to me too.

I'm sticking with my original opinion of a ground issue, but one other good possibility that someone else mentioned is a faulty battery. If you're using a gel cell, they can give you odd symptoms as they fail. Unlike a traditional battery, you won't just find that the bike is cranking slower...

    Ride October 11th from Kernville

WHOOPS - PUT THE WRONG DATE IN THE TITLE. THAT SHOULD BE OCTOBER 10th I know this is short notice, but if anyone had planned on coming up to Kernville for the Rod Run this weekend, an impromtu ride idea has been gaining momentum. The ride is for Saturday, October 10th. Here is the plan...

    Tire Problems...maybe?

This may seem overly obvious, but could you have lost your wheel weights? It's not unheard of for a strip of sticky weights to come off, especially after several years. If you are way out of balance, that certainly would cause the problem you're describing.

    Tire Problems...maybe?

If you're comfortable that the tires have been eliminated as the cause, other reasonable possibilities could be steering stem bearings (adjustment, state of lube, or bearing condition), wheel bearings, or forks that need servicing. (Although I agree that 3-4 year old tires should be changed...

    Fuel Cell Recommendations

Rain on my little parade, why dontcha. I stand solidly behind my logic that if we're riding to Shasta for him to have a seat crafted, we may as well make the meager jaunt up to Seattle so I can have a cell crafted. Hmph. I actually did a ride-in for my seat because, due to my aftermarket...

    Fuel Cell Recommendations

Custom ride-in fitment, eh? Hmmm... Mike HAS demanded a Russell Day Long, and it seems to me that a ride-in there is about half way to Seattle (give or take)... Seriously, after looking at everyone mocking up their own awesome cells in cardboard, it never even occurred to me to try that for...

    Front Bearings

I've replaced the front wheel bearings on my '05 twice, the second at about 83,000 miles. My hubby has around 50,000 on his and they've never needed replacing. I just replaced them for the first time on my FZ1 at 115,000 miles, and only because I was giving her a thorough going through. There...

    Front Bearings

That's where I got mine from! For the life of me I couldn't remember. What arrived was marked 21.9mm, but regardless it does the job. Thanks for finding that!

    Fuel Cell Recommendations

So Warchild, is that cell something that's available to us mortals or is that a strictly one-of-a-kind affair? What about you guys running things like a Summit cell? I've had some great pics & PMs regarding the more "off-brand" creations, but how 'bout the rest of ya? Are you happy with your...

2009 Iron Butt Rally - Official Daily Reports

Hell raisers? Heck, we had an ABATE rally AND the Veteran's River Run up here the last few weeks! You know the type - doctors on motorcycles, business men on motorcycles, law-abiding family folks on motorcycles - Hell Raisers, the whole lot of 'em! I'm just lucky they caught up with me on a...

2009 Iron Butt Rally - Official Daily Reports

Hey Turbo - Dropped you a line a while back to see if you could make it to a SoCal IBR Renion BBQ up here. We still trying to work up a date where everyone can make it, probably in the next few weeks. (Of course we'll let all the FJR riders know too. The more, the merrier!) I'll keep you...

    Front Bearings

The front wheel bearings on these don't have a shoulder where you can drive them out from the other side. You need a bearing puller, but the FJR front requires a totally oddball (21.9mm) puller. I had to order it in special and have never used it for anything else, so I'm gonna guess that most...

    Fuel Cell Recommendations

The hubby & I were discussing the possibility of throwing my hat in for the '11 IBR, and he said "The good thing is your bike is all set up already, so we won't have that expense to consider." Why yes, dear - completely finished. Oh, this? I was just asking for a friend...

    Fuel Cell Recommendations

Yeah, I emailed Dean the other day, and all my crying and pleading and tales of woe regarding my *** accomodation needs did no good at all. As nice as it is to know my fuel cell is a quality investment (Your Tanji fuel cell isn't guaranteed to increase in value, but all the others have!), I...

    Fuel Cell Recommendations

Hmmm... The McAvan definitely gains some points in the looks department with Linda's bag on it... How comfy is it? Do you still feel like you have plenty of room to move around and stretch out? How about mounting/dismounting? I'm completely uncoordinated to begin with, and it looked like...

    Fuel Cell Recommendations

I want to pick up a fuel cell, and I'm looking for input/suggestions/warning/stories/whatever. I'm know this has been discussed before, but it seems like cells are always evolving, new stuff comes on the market, great stuff (Tanji) goes away, so before I spend my money let's hear what ya'll...

:blush2: It was a slow news week in ol' Kernville

    Battery tender lead

This may seem weird, but try running a jumper wire from your battery negative post to a solid frame ground. I had some REALLY weird electrical gremlins on my bike that I couldn't track down, with symptoms similar to yours. In the course of troubleshooting, I found that everything worked fine...

Sampson Fuel Cell - Not the Taildragger

Any progress being made on this? I'd love to help, so if there is anything I can do to assist please let me know!

    Bike won't hold idle

At least then I know who to kick when things get screwed up. I spent more time & money fixing the tick fix than it would have cost to do it myself to begin with! Lesson learned...
