How many FJRs do you see on an average day?

Sounds like smithpa68 better ride past Bill Lumberg's house with his FJR posse!

    Touring Pants - Badlands Pro?

Goodman, I wear both the Badlands Pro jacket and the Badlands Pro pants (ATGATT). I like them both a lot. In an attempt to answer your questions: Protection and durability - The pants are very rugged and quite well-armoured. I have confidence that if I go for a slide they'll provide about...

    BeemerDonS crashes, is in hospital.

Not this year, he can't! If Don wants to see hockey in the spring he'd be better off going to the wintry climes of Anaheim or Tampa Bay.

    BeemerDonS crashes, is in hospital.

Don, I'm sure you know BRP has been spun off from Bombardier, and really it's the latter that could use your support more (another couple thousand layoffs this week). You sure you wouldn't rather get one of these? https://businessaircraft.bombardier.com/en/aircraft/learjet.html I know you...

Upsizing Rear Tire to 190/55 (w/ pics)

palerider: While I agree with you almost 100% as indicated by my earlier posts in this thread, I don't know that anyone is allowing "paragraphs in magazines to dictate their choices." I think that those paragraphs in magazines are just one of the sources of advice that you reference; some...

That was my "hunch" too but I was too timid to go there...

Upsizing Rear Tire to 190/55 (w/ pics)

Um... Auron: Did you miss Top_Speed1's post (#337)? Look up - waaaaay up... (okay only 4 posts up). As for your link I think the author screwed up the diagram. What they’re showing as a 180/50 (the green line) looks a lot more “pinched” than what they’re showing as a 190/50 (the blue line)...

Upsizing Rear Tire to 190/55 (w/ pics)

I was going to "like" rbentnail's post but I don't necessarily want to echo the "trolling ********" stuff. Nevertheless, he makes a good point about picking and choosing why some OEM specs would be okay to mess with and others aren't. All I can say is that the cornering performance/ride/feel...

Upsizing Rear Tire to 190/55 (w/ pics)

First, I never was very good at conics and all that stuff but it seems to me that a 190/50 with its flatter curve would have at least the same sized contact patch as a 180/55. The 190/55 that this thread is discussing would, I think, almost certainly not have a smaller contact patch than a...

Upsizing Rear Tire to 190/55 (w/ pics)

No installer issues for me, but that might be because the Yammy dealer I went to sells way more dirt bikes and "sleds" than street bikes so they couldn't really be described as the straight-laced, do-it-by-the-book type.

I wasn't all that thrilled with the description... I was hoping to see the pic.

    Hidden high mileage

Yup, best to replace your worn-out rubbers before they're too far gone.

    BeemerDonS crashes, is in hospital.

Nice sentiments and all, Don, but I can tell you're still not feeling like your usual self. Looking forward to the return of the snarky retorts and racy photoshopped pics in the near future!

    Hidden high mileage

Soft rubber. Mine was noticeably worn, top and bottom (but more on the bottom) at 13,000 km.

    FJR probably saved my life

Fred's Law: "With all other things being equal, a skilled rider will ride faster and more aggressively on a more capable bike, until he reaches the point where he perceives the (same) acceptable amount of risk." G-Man's Corollary: "A rider's perception of risk has little correlation with...

Just found my new favourite motorcycle...

Shawn, was this before or after you sniffed some of that mystery goop in English Bay? Glad you enjoyed the ride! I know I get in the habit of running at lower RPMs than I probably should (laziness? dunno...) but the nice thing is the FJR is so forgiving you can do almost anything you want...
