    Okay, that's weird...

I've had wasps and flies chowing down on the bug guts on my windshield, but this is something different: https://www.cbc.ca/player/News/Must%20watch/ID/2663108322/

I'm tired of my crappy FJR brakes. Will Galfer lines help?

Just to add my $0.02 here, from your description, FJRmoho, it sounds like your brakes are operating at far below "FJR normal" standards (like maybe 20% performance). I always brake on the front with a light touch of my index and middle fingers and could quite easily do it with one finger (and...

Is it just me? Gen 3 easier to center stand?

They do - with a 190/55 on the rear. Absolutely nothin' to it!

Motorcycle Wind Noise Comparison Test Should You Wear Earplugs

With respect, winewhisperer, I don't think anyone is neglecting the effects of age on hearing. Quite the opposite - we all know that hearing declines with age so we're saying why not do what you can to minimize those losses? Vision also declines with age. Does that mean you shouldn't bother...

    BeemerDonS crashes, is in hospital.

Damn! How'd I miss this news for the last 6 weeks? Wishing you all the best Don!

Motorcycle Wind Noise Comparison Test Should You Wear Earplugs

HRZ, I think winewhisperer's question about studies should be read as "am I in more danger because I'm wearing earplugs (i.e. because I can't hear a car coming up behind me or a siren or something like that)?" On that question, like Bounce, my answer is "No! - auditory acuity (as opposed to...

Upsizing Rear Tire to 190/55 (w/ pics)

To put what Banjo said another way - It depends. Is your suspension old and squishy and set on "soft"? Is there gravel/water/ice/snow/leaves/oil/diesel in the corner? Are your tires new/cold? There are many situations when your grip will fail long before you're scraping pegs (just ask...

Upsizing Rear Tire to 190/55 (w/ pics)

I think I get where you're coming from Spud, but I come at it from a different angle: if I ever get to the point where I'm riding that aggressively I'll be glad to know that I'll run out of clearance before I run out of tire. In reality I think this is very much a hypothetical situation for me.

Upsizing Rear Tire to 190/55 (w/ pics)

Geez, guys.... If having chicken strips is such a problem for your manly egos just take a belt sander to your new tires and be done with it!

Motorcycle Wind Noise Comparison Test Should You Wear Earplugs

Big Sky: First, let me say that I honestly don't mean to criticize (to each his own, etc.) but I find your post interesting. You clearly understand the causes and effects of hearing loss, concluding with the line "hearing loss is a *****; expensive too", and yet you still don't wear ear plugs...

    Too Close for Comfort

This is my practice too. Whenever I see a large vehicle in the oncoming lane or a string of vehicles I'll lean over to the right wheel track to improve the sight angles. The way I figure, if I can't see that tailgating driver (even if I can see his left headlight winking out) he can't see me.

    Helmets

What happens? I try to avoid riding at night whenever possible but I've had to do it several times. No issues for me with the Pinlock.

I guess I'm not that hardcore...

Looks like you've got it all cued up for a Nissan commercial, NSrider! This might not make you feel any better but I kind of envy you. I enjoy winter and we've had very little of it this year in the West (I guess we blame it on El Nino). Anyhow, break out the snowshoes or wax up the skis and...

    Too Close for Comfort

It's just too bad aboot the guy reinforcing the corny canuckistan accent, eh? https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/winnipeg-motorcyclist-s-close-call-with-car-caught-on-video-1.2998031 Looks to me like the cager might very well have seen the rider and just figured there was plenty of room!

Ventilation panels on Gen 3 FJR

FWIW, I was so excited to get out on the bike on Saturday (a day when, in any "normal" winter the road would be covered with a metre of snow for the next 6 weeks) that I forgot to put my right side panel on after I unplugged my battery tender. I rode 250+ km like that (1 panel in the "out"...

I guess I'm not that hardcore...

Damn right! I got out on Saturday for my first ever pre-St.Patrick's Day ride. It was gooooood.

How many FJRs do you see on an average day?

I'm pretty sure I saw a guy riding an '07....once. Very rare to spot one in the wild. I've even ridden through Washington (and Oregon...and Idaho...and Montana) and didn't see any other than mine. Haven't been to Seattle though; maybe there's a viable breeding population of them there...

Ok, do you "fast shift" or "slow shift"?

With all due respect GoatBoy (now there's a phrase I never thought I'd type ), have you ever actually done a clutchless up-shift? Your comment about "hit[ting] that fraction of a millisecond sweet spot..." suggests to me that you think it involves stabbing at the shift lever or something like...
