    Bridgestone

This has been discussed to death elsewhere, but I'll just say that in my experience the rear T30 may wear a bit faster than the stock BT023 rear, but the front T30 lasts much longer than the BT023 front. If you're going to run a matched set, the overall life of the T30s beats the BT023s by a lot.

Interviewing Strategy - beginning, middle or end?

As a one-time Psych major I would say that primacy effect dictates that all things being equal, the first interviewee and the last will make the most enduring impression (good or bad). I think the research shows that one of those two has a slight advantage over the other, but very slight (and...

Cold Weather Riding on the FJR

Well montanaman from Arizona (did you miss a turn? ) in case it helps you decide: I live and ride well north of 52 degrees north latitude and I've never felt the need for the foot guards. Good GoreTex riding boots, long johns, riding pants, and a heated jacket liner make for warm feet. That...

    Wrecked the '15 already

I'd say based on the quality of the jokes, we're all being very considerate - the risk is a mild chuckle, at worst.

    Gen III frame sliders.

...and the directions say that because experience has shown that not doing the left side first can create engine balance problems and weird vibrations (not my experience, fortunately).

What's the opposite of "lipstick on a pig?"

"Turn the throttle grip past the closed position"

I have to differ with you on a niggling technicality, Hud: If you grab the clutch - let's just say pull the lever in fully and keep it there, for the sake of this argument, not that I'd really do that - you will coast to a stop without any of the rapid engine braking that you're referring to...

Redfish: From what you've described I totally agree with your assessment of the cause of the spill. I'm sure you know that you're not the first rider to have his/her better judgment impaired by the lure of an FJR. Just Saturday of last week I felt compelled to get one last ride in before...

    2015 FJR1300 Information Released!

RFH: Sending good vibes your way for a quick recovery for both you and Smoke! Now, is it too early to ask for a verdict on the soft paint issue?

"Turn the throttle grip past the closed position"

Dan: I'm not sure why you'd expect the cruise to reset at a higher speed that you happen to accelerate to; I don't know of any cage CC systems that do that. I would find that very annoying. Quite often you're in CC and just creeping up on someone ahead of you. Hit the gas, pass that guy...

    Gen III frame sliders.

There's no doubt that the plastic is *physically* replaceable in that they are separate pieces that get screwed onto the metal brackets underneath. Whether they are available as a separate part, and if so at what cost, I don't know. Edit: The plastic parts seem to be quite tough. I’m sure...

The OEM sliders have no effect on oil changes.

    Helmets

Twigg: I agree with you to a point, but I still believe that relative "quietness" is a worthy characteristic to look for in a helmet for the following reasons: Not all hearing protection is created equal. If you have anything less than the ideal, top-of-the-line custom-made ear plugs, the...

    Riding in Heavy Rain

No need to speculate about the Gen III - I can attest it handles all-day rain just fine. As far as I'm concerned if there was any real doubt about that you couldn't call it a sport touring bike (Touring = deal with the weather you encounter, whatever that may be).

    Helmets

Schuberth C3 for me (and C3 Womens' for my wife). Very expensive but worth it. Likes: High-vis yellow, quiet, BT comm system in collar roll (sole separately, also expensive), comes with pinlock (awesome!), built-in sun visor (wouldn't ride without one), visor removal and re-installation...
