    2013 Cruise control: Phooey!

It's been suggested before (and I think there's some strong evidence in support of this theory) that for some reason the Gen IIIs delivered in Canada have a greater speedo spread than those in the US and elsewhere. I was riding on Sunday since my Hardley-riding companion had it pinned at the...

    Model designation

I've made do quite nicely with my helmet bags as liner bags. The "handles" (drawstrings) could be better but otherwise they work perfectly.

    Model designation

Nice to see they finally changed the shape of the bags (of course us Canucks still won't get the soft bag liners...)!.

    Harley guy here..

I think it's a new rule. I'm pretty sure there was no correction the other 614 times or so the same mistake has been made. https://www.google.ca/search?q=site%3Afjrforum.com+RPMs&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=sb&gfe_rd=cr&ei=u_4rVOz7M4bBoATU4ICQCQ

    Harley guy here..

If you need to check mirrors twice on an FJR at WOT you must have forgotten to put gas in the tank!

    Harley guy here..

A Harley guy riding a Japanese bike AND wearing a full-face helmet? I don't know exactly what the proper name for "Hell" is in the chaps-and-tassles crowd, but whatever it is, you're going there!

FJR Cost Over Time - Adjusted for Inflation

I'm in. Wait... is this like a "forever" promise?

FJR Cost Over Time - Adjusted for Inflation

Twigg: Maybe we're all a little grouchy today for some reason (I know I am) - don't let it get you down. As for the affordability thing, cost can be measured (and inflation-adjusted) in absolute terms ($) but how could you possibly quantify “affordability”? Would you analyze data to conclude...

FJR Cost Over Time - Adjusted for Inflation

Nice work. By that analysis it does look like later buyers of new bikes are getting significantly more bang for their buck (i.e. the added features/refinements).

    Perfection is Boring

Just an observation… Here it is September 25, and scanning the hot topics on this forum there’s nary a thread about “What colour is the 2015 going to be?” or “I heard the 2015 is going to have….” or “How long until Yamaha announces the 2015 model?” Do we take this lack of angst as evidence...

    parking stand choice

C'mon Fred, kick it over and be done with it (you've got the sliders on - what're you worried about?).
  12. CA G-Man

    parking stand choice

I agree. A ferry is about the last place I'd want to use a centre stand unless absolutely forced to!

    parking stand choice

Okay, now that I've thought about it a bit more I have to change my answer as to which stand I "normally use" for parking. While the side stand is my preferred stand and the go-to option whenever there's no good reason to use the centre stand, I do put it on the centre stand in my garage to...

    2011 FJR Seat on a 2014 FJR?

Maybe, but then again 8-year-old foam may just be a little stiffer than when it was fresh from the factory.

    2011 FJR Seat on a 2014 FJR?

I had my RDLs for my '13 built on 2006 seat pans. They're identical.

    Changing a tire early

Thanks Ogre and Geezer - good advice.

    Changing a tire early

I like this idea but I have to admit I'm a cautious do-it-yourselfer, meaning I'm willing to try most wrenching tasks provided that: a. I'm reasonably confident that I can do it and do it well; and b. It doesn't take an inordinate amount of my time, which is at a premium, and might be better...

HELP! Bent rim and possibly assistance required in PNW

Jeff: How you making out? Wish I could offer some help, but all I've got is best wishes. Grant PS: You might not want to come home - 2 degrees and 10-15 cm of (more) snow coming tonight!

    Sleeping pad recommendation for camping?

    Sleeping pad recommendation for camping?

Much like beauty is in the eye of the beholder, comfort is in the *** of the sleeper. It's all about compromises. When I'm summer camping in the back country I use my Hennessy Hammock and a thin closed-cell foam pad (well, half of one) or my 2/3 length Therma-Rest. In the winter (in a...
