    Utah Valley Living

There's sort of a cultural shift that happens south of the "point of the mountain" at Draper. Once you head south from there you are in "happy valley" and it is a very, very conservative culture driven by BYU and its 30,000 students and all that goes along with that. Salt Lake will be a little...

    Utah Valley Living

I lived there for several years. The location is fantastic for outdoor stuff. There is great riding all around. The area is getting pretty damned crowded with all the development pushed up along the wasatch range. Of course if you're coming from back east i suppose that's a subjective...

    Front vs Rear Tire Wear

My experience is in line with others--probably 1.5 or 2 to 1 wearing out rear to front. I have a great local shop that mounts tires for me for $15 and puts on anything I bring in so I do the mix and match game with older take offs. Right now I have an old T30 on the rear and an older RS2 on...

Flying into Vegas on the 15th - Rental options?

Can't help with the rentals, but if the weather is cool (a possibility in May), this would be a fun way to kill a day...

    Top case mount, two position

I wish I had the option of having the top case more forward as in position #1. With no passenger the aeros are not good with that big space between rider and case when traveling at +++ speeds... I use a soft bag a lot on the passenger seat to avoid that but it's not waterproof or lockable. Is...

    Canada route planning help

Reminds me of standing on the edge of Lake Coeur d'Alene one day, a tourist family piles out of a rental RV and the wife says "this is the most beautiful part of Washington we've seen yet!" lol...

    Bad Battery

Can't comment on that brand but my stock Yuasa went 5 or 6 years including being parked for our long winter and was still doing OK, but to make sure it would fire on a sub-freezing spring morning I finally replaced. Of course I went with the Yuasa again, well worth the $$$ in my opinion.

What's the best way to pay for a out of state bike?

Bring a roll of cash money and a bill of sale for seller with the purchase price accidentally left blank (assuming your state assesses tax on registration).

    Canada route planning help

I'll leave the others to route planning--west of Calgary it's all pretty damned awesome. As for Calgary itself, if you can get a reasonable rate and are staying in a hotel I highly recommend: https://www.internationalhotel.ca/ Great breakfast, big nice rooms, center of downtown, cool bar in...

Replaced Gen II shock with a Gen III shock

I put a Gen III shock on my '08 and I like the way it feels. My take-off was totally shot with 70K or something so no surprise it was a lot better, but it does have a nice ride and seems to be similar to how the bike felt when it was new.

Looking For Best Route Connecting I-10 and I-15

Of all the places you can connect to I-15,my favorite is the I-70 junction area. North of where you are, but well worth the trip...

    Why, Yamaha, WHY?!

Turns out Yamaha does make just the bike you want. You have to go to Europe to get it though... https://www.motorcycledaily.com/2017/03/yamaha-xsr900-abarth-arriving-in-europe-not-the-u-s/

Rejoining the group with new '16A

I too trailered my bike home when I picked it up from the dealer in early March '09. Ice and snow still but I wanted it in the garage. U-Haul has great M/C trailers for under $30/day; low, easy to load, lots of tie down points and a wheel chock.... (not my pic)

Banff and Jasper July 2nd to July 9th.

That's a good route--you'll know you've been on a ride after that. It may be hot in July, but that is no guarantee. We get cold spells in early July some years. You'll love the stretch from New Meadows to Grangeville--the Salmon River Canyon is awesome and the road is fun. Be prepared for a...

Banff and Jasper July 2nd to July 9th.

Looks like there will be advice a-plenty. Just to throw some random stuff out there for you to consider: Stayed one night in Nakusp, perfect little town right on a huge lake and had an excellent meal sitting at a great bar at the K2 Rotor Lodge. Hopping off the ferry first after crossing to...
