CFR 2018 - WooHoo! Registration is going LIVE November 1st!

I've answered the "do you have any alcohol" question with "a flask of whisky" most times I've crossed and never been an issue, so sealed bottle hasn't been required in my experience. I usually bring beer whatever I can reasonable fit too as it's 1/2 the price in the US vs Canada. I tried that...

CFR 2018 - WooHoo! Registration is going LIVE November 1st!

Weather? Hopefully not days of pouring rain like Castlegar in June a few years back. Although the day we all just sat in the "black rooster" (we had another name) drinking beer starting about noon was a fond, if unclear memory Also remember water flowing up out of a drain in a parking lot...

Are the FJR 1300 bag liners waterproof?

If closed properly, the panniers are completely and absolutely water-proof. The seal is so good on mine I sometimes have a tough time getting them to open after descending big mountain passes because they are pressurized from the elevation change. I'm betting they could be submerged for quite...

    The smell of burning rubber

I've also done a lot of practice "panic stops" but only once did I smell the burning rubber after my deer strike. However it works, ABS does work and training yourself to completely clamp down when needed can save you in a bad situation. I wouldn't want another street bike without the feature.

    The smell of burning rubber

When I T-Boned a big deer a couple of years ago I was in full mash everything front and back stop mode just before I hit it. I remember smelling burning rubber also when I stopped, thought my front tire was wrecked but all was good, just a broken nose cone.

Highest clear windshield for gen.2 WANTED

If you want to get rid of turbulance get a rifle, the "angle optimizer" really works, lets more air under and smooths it out above. I had the taller Yamaha windshield and still got a lot of buffetting and the rifle really does solve the problem...

Tire damage: am I being wussy

Agreed to forget about it, or rubber cement it if it helps you worry less. It's in the middle of the tire, I can tell you I've run several sets, including the last one, right down to the steel belts in the center and there is plenty of structure left to still hold air just fine.

    Gas pump freebie!

That's disgusting! I'd never get left over alcohol out of a dumpster. It's a lot more sanitary and fast to just grab "empty" drinks from the bar before the waitress or bartender can clean them up and shotgun whatever's left behind. If you do it fast enough, no one will notice...

So Kianu Reeves isn't REALLY Johnny Utah? Or "Ted?"

He's a real rider. I didn't believe it at first but a guy that rich and famous that will actually hit the track on a really fast bike for fun (not just to be seen) has my respect.... Here he is on an awesome RC45.

    Penalized ! For owning a Spyder !

The types of claims you're referring to are almost always brought by plaintiff attorneys working on a 1/3 contingency fee, so they get a cut of the settlement regardless of how long or how much work it takes. An excess judgment above insurance policy limits is subject to being discharged in...

2013 rear shock part no 1MC-22210-00

I don't have miles offhand but to me the sign of the worn out rear shock was a pogo effect when going hard through corners. The wallowing is not confidence inspiring. Put the new rear on there and bike went back to being stable and holding the line.

Am sometimes amazed, sometimes underwhelmed by the tech

Be even more wary of running water....i.e. the road turns into a stream running across the pavement. Big thundershowers in the mountains can do that

    This just in...

Very interesting. I find that my motorcycles also struggle to maintain speed when the fuel tanks are empty? Could this somehow be related?

Am sometimes amazed, sometimes underwhelmed by the tech

The thing that amazes me about modern tires is how much grip and feel they have in rain--even with a lot coming down you can feel the road under and can brake and corner with a lot of confidence.

    Kawasaki's Supercharged Sport Touring Bike

You can't link directly to it, but there is a drop down menu that is "sport touring capability" under the pic. Mentions a few things including electronic cruise control, which I didn't realize it also had. Also a 5 gallon tank, which is respectable. With one-key hard bags, heated grips...

    Kawasaki's Supercharged Sport Touring Bike

I'm pro green also, I love the color. And whether it's a sport-touring bike--- so you take a sportbike, give it upright ergos, add luggage, put on a centerstand, give it heated grips, add a bigger windscreen, and get "that's not a sport touring bike!" I know shaft drive would be nice, but what...

    Kawasaki's Supercharged Sport Touring Bike

Eagle Six, this review mentions the bike's similarities with the ZX14R, looks like you've got that bike so should be an interesting read. Please just buy one and tell us what it's really like https://www.visordown.com/road-tests-first-rides/first-ride-kawasaki-ninja-h2-sx-se-review

    Kawasaki's Supercharged Sport Touring Bike

I personally think this would be an incredible bike for long day trips or quick over-nighters. Kudo's to Kawi for bringing it to market. $22K is a lot, but there are a lot of other bikes out there that cost that much without nearly the tech this thing has. I'd love to ride one sometime...

    $24 Top Case

So I got around to mounting the case. I have a factory top case with the mounting plate so that made it pretty easy. I got 3 M8 80mm phillips screws at Home Depot that fit right through the case, plate and thread into the bike. Mounted it same direction as Pterodactyl's above, used the...

CFR 2018 - WooHoo! Registration is going LIVE November 1st!

I've been asked for a passport every time I've crossed on both sides of the border and go up at least a couple of times every year. There is another option though that will work and that is the Passport Card, which is only $30 if your passport is expired vs. $110 to renew a passport. The card...
