International Distance Converter Missing on Gen III

So as I just rode about 1000 miles through Canada last week, I realized how nice it is to have the international distance converter wheel printed right on my dash. The Gen III got rid of this handy feature with the digital readout. You've been there--you pass a sign that says the next town is...

Illegal to have things protruding from your helmet?

The cop is citing a federal reg. As Toro points out, it's for designers of helmets: https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/49/571.218 If there's no local ordinance or state or local statute then I don't think the cops would be able to charge anything. It would literally be the same as charging...

    Selling the 2008 FJR - I think

Nearly 10 year old bike, salvage title, known to have a prior wreck, high mileage, a model that's tough to move for any dealership. That's the way the market will see it. If you find someone looking specifically for an FJR (like on here) I think $3 to $3.5 would move it. BTW my '08 has 88K...

Another sad reminder to not ride in formation

And of course the granddaddy of all formation accidents, the 2009 Brothers Speed wreck in I-5 in Oregon: "Twenty-six members and associates of the Brother Speed Motorcycle Club were involved in a chain-collision motorcycle accident on Interstate 5 north of Portland, Oregon about 2 pm Friday...

Another sad reminder to not ride in formation

From what I read of the article, I just think they were all too close together. Should have been a one bike wreck.... Gotta feel sorry for the guy minding his own business in the truck being involved in all that. Be careful out there...

Bridgestone T30 EVO GT front tire

Tires can cause head shake. I've used so many different ones I don't remember which, but I did have a front that caused head shake when decelerating, was worried about the bearings etc., put on a new front and gone...I think it may have been an Avon Storm II Ultra that did that. They all have...

    Dowco Covers on Sale

Just ran across this, I have no idea how well they'd fit an FJR. You wouldn't lose your bike in a parking lot with this on...would draw much attention for my liking but a good deal at twenty something bucks... https://dowcopowersports.com/guardian-hi-viz-motorcycle-cover/

Shameless self-promoting bump. Santa's first load on the way to WI, PA, NY and MD today. Still some nice stuff left.

BMW Motorrad USA Issues “Stop Sale” on the R1200GS

I wouldn't mind a recall that netted me a new set of forks....

    Garage Sale!

My brother in law who lives a couple houses down from me brought me a couple big bags of gear to sell. He had 2 BMW's and just decided riding wasn't for him. He hardly rode either bike, and bought some nice gear that is mostly in great condition. All gear was stored indoors when not used...

    Utah/Arizona Trip Plan Help Please.....

Sounds like a great trip. Make sure you take the dead-end 20 mile trip up to Rainbow Point when you're at Bryce. With your hotel there, it's an out-n-back so you could either go in the eve. after checking in or in the AM. Then you don't have to have all your gear packed to run up there. It's...

The Motorcycle Industry is Dying - Bloomberg

Yes this is a generalization, but youngsters these days just care less about such things. Stick shift cars are all but dead, and if you know how a clutch and manny tranny work then doing it on a bike after doing it in a car is easier. I was in Pittsburgh this week and saw an Uber self-driving...

    Hostage of Photobucket

Wow, I was just getting ready to buy the cheapest plan specifically so I could get my photos back I've posted on this forum and post new ones. No one but a business will pay $500/year. That really sucks!!!!

Any Interest in an unorganized Out-n-Back run through ID?

Thanks for the encouragement. I rode it Sat June 24 and Sun June 25, it was around 82 degrees, the rough pavement was avoidable in most of the corners, I got around slower traffic with no problems and the only cop I saw was assisting an HD rider that went off the road (ambulance came by a while...

Any Interest in an unorganized Out-n-Back run through ID?

A weekend in mid-late Aug or early Sept is what I'm shooting for. Check your calendar, you've got a great location to jump off and head to Dillon.

Any Interest in an unorganized Out-n-Back run through ID?

Riggins is only 1800' elevation. Now worry about snow there. Dillon is 5200. Old 95 from White Bird to Grangeville would be on the route. Just a couple turns thrown in there...

Any Interest in an unorganized Out-n-Back run through ID?

My plan this weekend was to loop around through Stanley but doing Lolo twice did not disappoint (not my pics). Riggins is a small town deep in the canyon with a gas station, a couple good bars and restaurants. Park the bike and walk anywhere.

Any Interest in an unorganized Out-n-Back run through ID?

I'd like to get together with some other riders for a fast, cheap 2 day ride-all-day then go home trip. Meet in Dillon, MT on a Thursday night. Friday, from Dillon over Lolo Pass, to Elk City, ID and Back, then down to Riggins. About 475 miles, tons of canyon carving along the rivers. Friday...
