    Backfire Bike Night (Ballard)

Crud! Got busy today and forgot all about it. I'll be there next month.

    Niehart and the Bandit

Nope, didn't see a wheelie, stoppie or smokey burnout from the Ducati crowd all day. However, I was appalled at some of the wanton hooliganism I witnessed. There was total disregard of traffic laws, abuse of public officials and a general lack of common sense. It was a really good time. Only...

    Metzeler Tires

I pulled 10.5 K out of my last Z6 and it never let me down. There are wear bars in the tread, you have to really look to see them, but they are there. When they show, change the tire now. Not a week from now...now. Z6's are notorious for showing the cords in short order after they are done...

Rubberized Roads: What are your thoughts?

Crumb rubber modified asphalt comes down the road every 10 years or so. This seems to be about the cycle where the greenies that promote it forget what a dismal failure it was last time it was in vogue and about the time all of the politicos turn over so there's a fresh batch to influence with...

    Coocase or Givi

I was just curious, it looks like there should be enough room for a 2nd. But, I don't ride 2up so I couldn't say for sure. The PCA rack is the way to go. I too have loaded mine up with no issues. Oddly, the famous no hands front end wobble appeared when I put the Givi on. I haven't tried it...

    Coocase or Givi

What are you using for a mount? I've got the Premier Cycle rack and mounting hardware and it looks like it would work (my Wife won't even think about riding behind me).

Monroe, WA. Monroe Motorsports and Adventure Motorsports

I wanted to throw out some kudos to Adventure Motorsports for taking care of the ignition switch recall. Called me to let me know it was happening. Called me when the parts were available. I rode out to schedule an appointment and they said if I could wait they'd do it now - and gave me a...

Gregoire to kill WA. Motorcycle Safety Program

I actually went over to the Legisature's site and had a look at the proposed legislation. The motorcycle safety program isn't being dropped - merely the advisory board. The cited legislation eliminates a whole flock of advisory boards and the Motorcycle Safety Advisory Board is just one of...

    Yee Haw! I'm back

GenMar contact info here: GenMar These work fine on an '08, and since the '09 is just an '08 with black wheels, they should get the job done. Nice ride, BTW.

    FJR engine

There's a little bit of buzz in the bars; but this changes depending on things like air pressure, suspension setting, RPM, road surface, etc. Certainly not what makes my right hand numb. For me, the right hand numbness is almost entirely due to wrist angle inhibiting blood flow. If I can...

    torgue wrenches

True. A torque reading is an approximation. Stretching the fastener to obtain a desired tension is what we're after (steel is a wonderfully elastic material). But, in most applications we can't measure the amount of stretch we're getting, we approximate it with a force measurement. This...

Breakfast Meet & Greet before Seattle Cycle Show

It's gonna have to be white and fluffy around here for me not to ride. It's just Bothell to Pioneer Square. I work in that neck of the woods, so I do it every day anyway. The PNWRiders crew have a meet at the Kawasaki stand at noon on Sat. Prolly OK for the more mature set to meet at the...

Backfire get together this Weds night

Windshield? WTF is a windshield? I was riding the SR500, a windshield would just vibrate off. As much as I love my FJR, the old SR still puts a goofy grin on my face every time I ride it.

All '08 Owners Out There! I Need '08 Windshield Advise!

I managed to kill most of the bugs in 3 states this year and the windshield survived all the scrubbing pretty darn well. Still looks like new. Unlike the visor on my Arai. The hard coating seems to be the ticket.

Backfire get together this Weds night

This is on again for Wednesday Nov. 19th at the same location - Station Bistro in Ballard. If the weather's half way decent, I'll probably drag the thumper out for another appearance. This is a really cool meet, not your ordinary bike nite for sure.
