    Electircal -"Enginge running" circuit

FYI, the Gen 2's drop power to BOTH outputs for a moment when changing from high-beams to low-beams. I don't know if the Gen 1 behaves the same way. Not sure that the latching diode will be enough when you lose input from both trigger sources simultaneously.

    Was Alex's Aux light brackets......

I don't think that the Chinese knock-off's are throwing your money away, but they are a definite gamble. You're a Reno man, so you know all about the odds, right? You've got two games going on, initial quality, and long term reliability. What I can tell you is that the extra time and quality...

    Was Alex's Aux light brackets......

RJ: Changing colors with HID is as simple as changing the bulb. This problem with many of the Chinese kits is that the bulbs/ballasts perform well as a combination, but if you switch to another brand ballast or lamp, they may not perform as well. I went through this on my headlight retrofit...

    I-40 Rockslide near Maggie Valley

Yes, it happened in the summer of 1997. I was working at the NC welcome area, and commuting from the TN side at the time. It created a major inconvenience for about 6 months as they moved rock and re-paved large sections of the highway. IIRC, the last slide was a few miles closer to the...

    Calling all Audio Techs !!

For what it's worth, I have an Xbi, and you don't have to have an adapter to use other headphones. They will plug right in and work fine, but you won't have a microphone. You'll need to find an adapter that splits the 3.5mm 4 pin into a 3.5mm stereo for the headphones, and a 3.5mm mono for the...

    Travelling Thru East Tennessee?

This particularly concerns me because I was on the crew that installed most of the traffic lights in JoCy during the '90s. I know for a fact that the JoCy traffic light system is much more capable than it's current implementation. The controllers are capable of being interlinked, allowing...

    Wanted: Woodworking tools in PNW

After the cross country move a couple years ago, living in an appartment for a while, and finally getting a house, I'm trying to set up my woodshop again. If anyone in the PNW area comes across good deals on nice woodworking equipment, please drop me a PM. Looking for most of the basic stuff...

    Fatter Grips??

Grip heaters don't add much to the overall thickness, and are usually a separate item from the grip itself. Many of the riders here have gone with the BMW sport grips, which are larger overall, and tapered from largest at the outside of the grip, and narrower near the inside of the grip. See...

    SADDLEBAG BARREL LOCK

    I thought it was M3 x 0.5, not M4. I'm not sure though.

    Gen 2 front wheel

That's right, it's an '06. I thought there was a brake difference between 04-05 and 06-07, but I'm not sure as I'm a Gen 1 guy! Never both to remember anything you can look up, right?

    Gen 2 front wheel

He hit a good sized pothole coming up the gorge this morning on Lisa's bike. He arrived here safely, but the rim took a good hit and isn't running true.

    Gen 2 front wheel

Lisa and Tobie Stevens are in need of a replacement front wheel. Anyone have a Gen 2 wheel available? Please let me know, or PM Ironmaiden.

    XM Radio Bill..........YIKES!

I do this without the cell signal booster in the car sometimes. Works fairly well for "around town" use. But if you start traveling, it doesn't like jumping between cell towers without having to re-connect.

    Ground spider failure

I haven't seen these issues firsthand, so I'm not intimately familiar with the details. Jeff, if your assessment is correct, it seems to me a replacement spider of a thicker material would solve/prevent the problems? Seems like it would be a good exercise to remove the terminals from the...

Need help with an electrical gremlin

If it's instantly blowing a fuse, the positive after the fuse is shorting to ground. It could be in the device, but I'd put money on a damaged wire.
