    Lost Bolts

one of the first things to do with your new bike is to remove bolts and replace with loctite. The vibrations from riding loosen the fasteners over time, loctite or equivalent will prevent lost external bolts and nuts

    Wire Feed Welders

I'm fortunate to have a Central Welding Supply store near my home. Just swap empty bottle for full and paying about $45 for the gas.

    Wire Feed Welders

I use 92 cf gas bottles to save space in my garage and for transportability. They'll usually last for 3-4 hrs of welding.

    Wire Feed Welders

I have a Lincoln 140HD (110 AC) with Argon/CO2 gas. Works great for thinner stuff. Have used with spool gun for Aluminum (using 100% argon) with mixed success. I have it set up for either Al or steel with gas bottle and feed to spool gun switch out. Don't bother with flux core. Really messy...

Good point, bike is running fine. I will be doing the valve check fairly soon.

    Ignition coils failed

Picked up a 2013 and on factory service manual. I did the compression test incorrectly, per the SM, you need to remove only one spark plug at a time and have the throttle wide open. SM says compression should be between 198-255 psi and be w/in 14 psi across the cylinders. I'll retest and post...

    carburetor synchronizer...which one?

I've used both the Motion Pro blue fluid and the Morgan carbtune. The carbtune is far superior, just hook up and run.

    Ignition coils failed

Yes, replaced the spark plugs first and did the throttle body synch. Still underpowered, took to dealership for diagnosis. I replaced all four coils with Yamaha parts. Is running fine now.

    Ignition coils failed

I replaced coils with OEM. Gen III has a different coil than previous models according to the dealership. Maybe an issue with these new coils?

    Ignition coils failed

Two of the four ignition coils failed on my 2014 ES at 61,000 miles. Anyone else had this problem? I replaced all four and checked my compression while I was under the tank. running 120-130 psi. Seems like it should be higher.

    Rear ended at light

No noticeable shimmy, unbalance or flat spots that I could detect even at highway speed. I'll dissassemble the drive train this weekend also.

    Rear ended at light

By the way, no second thoughts on riding. Can't imagine being stuck in a car for commute, was back on the bike for commute to work today.

    Rear ended at light

Just got rear ended last night, with my son riding pillion. Stopped at light with bike in 1st and clutch in and rear brake lightly applied. Hit hard enough to move the bike about two feet forward. Managed to keep the bike shiny side up. Sucks since just passed 1st year anniversary with my...

    Battery Tender Lithium battery?

Installed - not only is the Li battery lighter, it is also considerably smaller. Deltran included foam blocks to raise the battery to level of the stock. Battery came partially charged (manual says 70%). It took a couple hours to top off the charge. I purchased the Battery Tender Li charger...
