Just look at that convoy of riders! There's one every few miles from Indy to New Orleans! Edit: It's looking like the trio from Alaska have time if they don't hit a significant fatigue wall. About the same mileage as Perce to the finish.

Perce Rock was the best part of either of my rallies. A beautiful sunny day on the North Atlantic coast after 30 hours of rain...priceless.

A valiant effort. I imagine there was a lot of emotion as the reality of the situation set in. There will be a lot more as they continue their ride. I hope he/she can make it back in time for the banquet.

As Iggy said, "Pleasure." This, of course, will be followed by other questions such as your destination. Short, direct answers are best. The only question I fib about is "How long do you intent to visit?" Adding a day or two to a 3,000 kilometer trip is prudent.

In the 2001 IBR: Bob Hall arrived at 7:54. By a six-minute margin he narrowly missed any late arrival point deductions. Bob had just returned from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. He had elected to go for the big one million-point bonus offered in Sunnyside, Washington. He gambled on the weather. He won...

You can't win the rally on the first leg, but you can lose it. Historically, points on later legs are worth more than points on Leg one. Additionally, it's a long rally; keeping something in reserve for Day 10 isn't a bad idea. Pushing your luck and your limits on the first leg is for rookies...

Yes. Alamo is home to the annual Alamo Express Rally. Alamo was chosen specifically for it's fast and lightly traveled roads. I-84 in Idaho is posted at 80 mph. While the speeds drop in Oregon it's lightly patrolled and you can still make very good time.

Very glad to hear Mike is okay. We had a lengthy conversation several years ago about deer and rallying. They are one of the couple main reasons I limited my participation in competitive rallies. Ride enough, particularly at night, and odds are eventually this will happen. I'd prefer to be in a...

I never tracked the cost of the two IBRs I ran; I just didn't want to know. I do think it's closer to $11K than $5K. What's the entry fee these days? Two sets of tires is 5 or 6 hundred alone. I'm the type who just can't get good sleep in the Iron Butt Motel and usually took a room for at least...

Watching you in my mirror on Hwy 20 last summer, I didn't notice your Goldwing on a CT having any trouble keeping up with me. It might have felt like crap, but you were still moving at a pretty decent clip!

Coast To Coast - 29 Hours 23 Minutes Ride Report

Greg...a ride to be proud of! Pretty incredible to imagine riding coast to coast in just over a day. I've thought many times "I'll just eat off the bike for a day". You know, Clif bars and trail mix and whatnot. Then the lure of a hot hamburger messes up the whole plan ; ) It can really pick up...

    Riding plans for 2018 - What's Yours?

May - Team Lyle Alamo Rally in Nevada. June - Dutch Treat fundraiser for my charity, Shelly's House, Inc. In 2011 I rode to 5,000 miles and stopped at 162 Dutch Bros. coffee locations in 162 hours. Now, every year I ride to the new stores opened in the last 12 months. This year's ride is around...
