If you think $380 is ridiculously expensive for a set of quality driving lights, you haven't been shopping enough. I'd also suggest you reconsider the Top Gun mounts. The lights mount outboard of the body and are subject to damage in a tip over. A better option can be found here.

I owned an '85; my second favorite year behind the 1991. Not to highjack the thread, but I still have a complete 1990 FZR front end that never made it onto the FJ. I'd practically give it away to a forum member who has an FJ they'd like to modify.

As much as it kills me to do so, I have to +1 SkooterG as well. :blink: Of all the items you mentioned, the first thing I'd add is a hydration system.

Spoken like a true LD rider. :) The Frankentank does have applications for folks who ride two up. Tail-dragger tanks have some issues around weight placement, longevity and safety. Modding the stock tank avoids those issues.
