    Smell the Glue

10003 Aurora Ave, Seattle, WA. About a block and a half from Seattle Cycle Center. Not sure how much yet - probably the better part of a grand, I'll post later. No camera with me - DOH! But I'll post pics of the final product when I get home tonite. Pretty cool watching Rich and his...

    Smell the Glue

Sitting here at Rich's Custom Seats watching Rich carve saddles and sniffing the glue. So far there's been a total of 9 bikes in and Rich is working on all of them at once. Pretty amazing to watch. Rich decides what he wants on the seat, instructs one of his minions and hands it off,. In a...

    Anyone not have collision insurance?

That's a bit of a subjective question. You have to look at the cost of the coverage and how much deductible you have vs. the value of the bike. For example, if the cost of the premium plus the deductible is say half the value of the bike, then if you crash the bike and the cost to repair it is...

    Let's Talk About Summer Gloves

I've been known to walk across the floor to the dirt bike section and look grab something over there. Lots of lightweight motocross gloves that fit the bill.

Here's one that should make you all nod knowingly!

A bunch of us made a run out to Glacier National Park on Friday - triple digits every day but yesterday, ATGATT. I never really thought of anything under 100 as refreshing until then. Short stops, decent speed and lots of water made the weather tolerable. Beautiful park.

Anybody here living near Billings Montana?

One of the tricks I've used in the past when needing temporary storage on the road is to find a Public Storage place. They give the first month free when you rent a storage space from them. They've never given me any crap at all when I've flown in to store some stuff for a week or so. No...

    Dear I-5 Stunters

The local sportbike community doesn't have much love for these fucktards. Not because they're jealous of their Madd Stuntin' Skilz, but because it raises community ire and the local LEOs don't particularly disciminate between ******** and law abiding sport bike rider. If you ride a sport bike...

08 | GPS Speed vs Speedometer

I would be careful about relying on GPS speed readings. The level of accuracy of a consumer grade GPS unit with an uncorrected signal is on the order of 10 meters. Or, picture yourself inside a 60 ft. diameter circle, and the GPS is telling you that you're somewhere inside that circle. With a...

    Riding / Work Boots

Point well taken. You'd be surprised what those cowboys will wear. I've had a pair of the smokejumpers for a looooonnnnggg time. When they wear out I'll send 'em back for a rebuild. Or, my survivors will. Best outdoor work boot I've ever had. Like wearing old friends every time I put them on.

    New 08 - oil leak

I wipe a lot of greasy crap off of my back rim too. It doesn't smell like gear oil (nor look like it 'cause it's full of BelRay) and I'm guessing it's excess grease from the drive splines. Easy to check gear oil level - pop the plug, it's either there or it isn't.

    Helmet of Choice

Has anyone seen the Simpson Fury? I've got a couple of Bandits that I like a lot for racing, but those aren't good MC helmets. Not a lot of frills. I like the way a Simpson fits my punkin and the Fury looks like a decent lid - I've just never seen one in person.

Or you can get one from directly from Morgan: Morgan Carbtune Nice folks, will ship directly from Belfast. 'Bout $125 freight and all. Took 10 days from Belfast to Seattle. Nice unit, easy setup, no fluids to spill, works like a charm. Two thumbs up.

    Stirring Things Up

Absolutely. Supertrapp exhaust, some mild motor mods. It is a total hoot to ride and sounds really cool. Looks totally stock, not dicked up with a bunch of cafe' ****. I tell anyone who wants to ride it that it's fine with me - as long as they can get it started. This bike stays with me...
