So…I got back from a ride and had an epiphany

Not me,I just found a translation of Jiří Šimůnek's post above. Mind you, I do agree!

So…I got back from a ride and had an epiphany

Google translation help for we English-only speakers: Fjr is an incredible mover and speedster. On Sunday, my wife and I returned from a trip to Europe, and she once again proved that she can handle more than I can. This year on vacation, 5,256 km were driven in a week in full fields. I had an...

need help, FJR won't start, don't hear the fuel pump when putting contact on

FIY: The red light will do its 24 hour flashing whenever the ignition is cycled, regardless of the engine being started.

    ABS Issue

Just another thought, when (if) you get it out, on replacing it, put a very thin smear of something like copper-impregnated grease (usually sold for brake applications) on it, and on the screw thread. Makes removal next time easy.

    ABS Issue

Good that it was as simple as the sticking brake pedal, as i said, quite common. As for taking off the rear sensor, my suggestion would be using penetrating oil all round the flat part, leave for a while (24 hours?), then use a piece of wood as a punch against the top edge of the flat above the...

    ABS Issue

Sticking rear brake pedal is a very common cause of the ABS light showing. I thought from your first post you'd checked for that, or I would have suggested it earlier.

is there a better brake lever?

FWIW - I use the OEM lever on its closest setting (5), and only ever use my first two fingers to brake. Easily activates the front ABS when on a good, dry tarmac surface, so plenty of available strength even in my 81-year-old fingers. I also find it gives me a finer control of the braking...

    Check Engine Light

i seem to remember my 2018 doing that, leaving the engine light "hanging", only cleared by my dealer. As Oldjeep suggests, may clear after a ride. Will do no harm riding it, so long as no other errors show up.

Is this any use to me? Diagnostic tool

Assuming yours is a Gen3 FJR, potentially useful. The connector is under the saddle, in your owner's manual, look for "Diagnostic Connector" in the index. You can get the adaptor for the FJR if your current one isn't suitable, just google "FJR1300 ODB adaptor". Never used one myself, so...

UK bike, MY2008 - air temperature display change to centigrade?

That does sound like miles per US gallon. I've always averaged around 58 plus overall, it can dip to 40 but only when all riding was in local heavy traffic, all stop-start, rarely reaching 40mph. I've always logged my fuel consumption, click on the year for each of my four FJRs, 2006 2010, 2014...

    UK model 2018 AS

Very low speed cornering, as it reaches clutch disengagement speed, the forward drive can reduce. Nothing as bad as the Gen2, these simply disconnected the clutch, a real danger of dropping it. The Gen3 will leave some torque through the clutch but it will disconnect as you come to rest. The...

UK bike, MY2008 - air temperature display change to centigrade?

What year is your bike? Gen2 UK spec bikes are set to degrees C and MPG (imperial gallons), no way of changing them. If yours is a Gen2 and is reading degrees F, it's not a UK bike.

    UK model 2018 AS

I'm also a UK owner of a 2018 AS, purchased new in January 2018, currently with just on 30,000 miles. Our USA cousins never had the blessings of the Gen3 YCC-S gearbox, and its operation was significantly improved from the Gen2 AE as it was designated in that market. if you are considering...

    Starter button

Definitely an Audiovox CCS 100, If it's of any use, try this link for the manual. You'll need to take the cover off to find exactly which wire is cut, it is very common to not use the "Speed" wire, just to rely on the tacho for speed regulation. I installed one on my 2006 and 2010, annotated...

    Should black hex box remain?

No, you should have started the thread. Yes, it took some effort to get a definitive answer to your question, but that answer could help others. As for "noses out of joint", anyone who gets upset by what's going on here shouldn't be here. These stupid arguments go on all the time. And, always...
