"I want you to enjoy your bike."

Five years today.. I got totally pissed. Never mind, she would have liked the wine. Spain in a few days. Good night.

    Check Engine Light stays on

The most common cause of a warning light is a sticking brake lever, usually the rear, which causes the ABS light to come on. This is easily confused with the engine warning light. The cure is lubrication of the lever's pivot. If it really is the engine light, there should be an error code...

Riding tutorial on how not to get shot in Plano, TX

That wasn't filtering in any normal sense. That was insanity. Try that here, you would inevitably get wiped out by a lane-changer, and I wouldn't blame the car driver for not seeing the motorcycle coming at twice the legal speed limit. This is the worst possible advertisement for legalising...

Finally, a bike uglier than Brodie's old AE!

You do realise it's purely voluntary. No pay, and you are expected to obey all traffic rules. No flashing lights, no siren. After your job, you would find this something of an anticlimax.

    Rear Brake Caliper Assembly

The riding test is the proof that pedal to brake is functioning, it's not to test the ABS. If the bike didn’t have ABS, I would have suggested ensuring the pedal could lock the wheel.

    Rear Brake Caliper Assembly

Two questions, did you bleed that front calliper, and can you get sufficient pedal pressure to activate the rear ABS?

Finally, a bike uglier than Brodie's old AE!

Not saying ambulance motorcycles are common here, but it’s not a surprise to see one. I did once see two together amongst the ambulances at my local hospital, that was unusual. But they weren't FJRs. "Blood" bikes are more common, ridden by volunteers to transport human organs or medical...

Finally, a bike uglier than Brodie's old AE!

They may be ugly to some, but if you are lying in a pool of your own blood, they are the most beautiful sight in the world. Used by first responders to navigate through dense traffic or pedestrian thoroughfares much more quickly than any other method.

Sudden 2014 FJR1300A starting, running problem. Canister issue?

You won't see the canister, it's hidden within the fairing. The easiest way to tell is to look under the fairing and look for mounting bolts. In the picture, taken from underneath the (very dirty) bike, the front is towards the top left. There is a single screw at the front that holds the two...

    Recommendation for Side Cases

Hopefully your original locks are still ok. New cases come without locks, easy enough to transfer. If you have to buy new locks, your original key won't fit, but it may be possible to re-jig the new locks to fit you old key.

    Recommendation for Side Cases

Side cases from any year will fit, only colour and decals change with the year.

    FJR 1300 2016 - Throttle Linkage Issue

Still cables and cams from throttle tube to sensor. Though I, too, can't imagine why you'd want to, unless you had restricted wrist movement.

    FJR 1300 2016 - Throttle Linkage Issue

I'm having trouble identifying exactly where your photo is showing (wood and trees!). I doubt the workshop manual will show the detail you want, the nearest I've seen to your 2016 is for a 2013, it shows the throttle body assembly as little more than a line drawing, as it does in the 2006 one...

I scored one of the uber-rare OE foot shield kits for my '07

If they make your riding more comfortable, that's a good enough reason to use them. I can suffer from cold. When it is near freezing I plug in my electrically heated vest. I find putting warmth into the body really does help the extremities.

I scored one of the uber-rare OE foot shield kits for my '07

i suppose mostly aesthetics, though they did occasionally get in the way, found my boots occasionally touching them when stopping. I never seem to suffer from cold feet (and I have been on the bike for several hours in sub-freezing weather). Maybe I have very good boots, maybe I am used to cold...

I scored one of the uber-rare OE foot shield kits for my '07

Hope you like them. I put some on my '14 (free as part of a promotion), didn’t like them, took them off at the first opportunity.

    Bought used.. missing stuff

Tool kit comes in a black plastic roll, in a little compartment just behind the tank, held in place with a rubber strap. The pic shows the compartment empty, the strap released. (Click on image for larger view) And with the toolkit in place (ignore the thingy with a green button on, I was...

Check out my new big Darla's

One opinion: If you are using the lights to see with, all you are really doing is reducing the light output, so you will be worse off. If you are using the lights to be seen by others, the amber colour will make you stand out more from a sea of white lights, which should make you more...

    Sudden power loss

Fuel tank air inlet? Check by stopping next time it does it and opening the filler cap, does it suck in air?
