    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Here’s the  8.8 pound “sirloin pork loin roast half” in the smoker. Looks like it was cut and not dressed up at all. Usually they French the rib bones. I didn’t want to f@$k with trying to do that myself...figure I’ll just cook it and figure out how to cut it when it’s done.  😳 BigO...the...

OK. Chicken came out great. There were 7 huge legs. After delivering some to a few folks (One old on disability, one with terminal cancer, two to our neighbors that just had to spend $2,500 they really don’t have on eye surgery for their fur baby, and one  in bad health living only on a pitiful...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Well, have 7 whole chicken leg quarters I’m smoking today. They were donated to our food pantry, so I’m going to cook them and deliver them to some of the needy folks in the area .  Photos hopefully later...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

What’s worked well for me at keeping rust off the firebox on my offset is to spray the crap out of it with canola oil before I start the fire. I do this every time I cook. What this does is “season it” like you do for a cast iron skillet.  Then a light spray after I’m done cooking when it cools...

    Givi V46 Affects Handling

I 2nd what SwollenRaccoon wrote. I too noticed a bit of “twitchiness” riding solo at speed with the OEM top case. This whether the tail case was empty or heavily packed. Was a lot better with a bag on the passenger seat, and completely gone with a passenger.    So definitely an aerodynamic...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

At 4 hours: going to wrap at the stall and finish in the oven. Going to roast some baby potatoes and sliced sweet potatoes to go with it.    What’s leftover goes into chili this week 😉   Edit: Sorry no after pics. Took another 2 hours to finish, being wrapped, so no hard bark. Tender, but...

    End of an ERA

As humans, we have learned to adapt. I too traded my FJR in for something a bit “lighter”, more for practical reasons than physical ones. Our 50 ft driveway is at about 19 degrees and made of loose rock. Going up it, (and especially down it) on the FJR made me a bit nervous. Not to mention many...

What's the Weather like where YOU are today?

Still cold.🥶 It’s 0 right now, expected high today of 5.  More snow coming this morning and going all day. Accumulations up to 8” possible. Lake almost completely frozen. And it’s very windy, so wind chill is just brutal.

    Ford Ranger 4WD not engaging

Sure would. Just thought I’d check here to see if anyone had some experience with this.      I believe Ford also uses a solenoid in the transfer case to switch drive. As I hear nothing when I turn the knob, it’s ether a fuse or the solenoid is shot.   Too freaking cold here to  work on a...

    Ford Ranger 4WD not engaging

I don’t think it’s a matter of temperature. After a 20  mile ride home going into my subdivision with crappy roads, I’d imagine the motor would be warm enough at that point, but it wouldn’t go into 4WD.     I have no place available to me here to introduce the vehicle to 60 degree temperatures...

    Ford Ranger 4WD not engaging

Mines not a manual lever. It’s a switch on the dash for 4WD “high”, which is supposed to switch on the fly, to 4WD “low” where you need to be stopped and turn it there with your foot on the brake to engage.     I assume being a switch, it’s an electronic system, using a solenoid to use some...

    Ford Ranger 4WD not engaging

I know a bit about motors, but am fairly clueless on how 4WD works.    My 2001 Ford Ranger will not go into 4WD. No noticeable sound when the switch is turned. No light displayed.    What should I check here? What are possible causes?

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

He did say “brewed a 12 oz cup of coffee”, so a liquid.   I have heard of adding ground coffee bean to a rub, and using instant coffee too.  I’d think those would go better with beef instead of pork however.
