    FJR Down

Cheers coyote. Thanks for mentioning "target fixation" as the cause. Pretty common cause of accidents, probably. One thing dirt riding teaches is to look where you want to go,not where you don't want to go.Warrants LOTS of practise. Glad you're ok.

    Redfish in South Louisiana

Nice fish ! Looks like great duck huntin country too.You do that? As for the 2 hooks in the fish's mouth, in Manitoba,Canada one day my pal lost a big northern pike. His line broke.I cast where the fish last was, it hit my spinner,I landed it and handed my pal his lure. & dat is da TRUTH...

    Shameless plug for my state

A few years ago I was visiting a professor pal at LSU in Baton Rouge.I was on a brand new, fancy BMW 1100RT(junk). I was a yankee decendant of civil war Union combat vets & had travelled very little in the deep south. I announced my intention of riding back to my yankee home on backroads through...

Are all BMW owners pompous butt wipes?

nahhh, i think his toilet is out of wack.if he has one.

Are all BMW owners pompous butt wipes?

madmike, sure. Brands aren't arrogant, people are. It may be that some brands attract more buyers who are most interested in satisfying their "lust for notice" above all else and think those brands help'm do that. Some of'm refer to us as riders of "rice burners".Am sure you know the type.

Are all BMW owners pompous butt wipes?

down2, I got to agree with you---1st time ever. I have had experience with the sort of arrogance you refer to---both from BMW owners & dealers. With some Harley types too. Seems everybody on this thread's in the mood for a "celebrating tolerance for divervsity"circle jerk rather than some truth...

    TWN's Poll

howabout GRAVEL roads? Lots more of'm than paved.

    Another brain teaser

if a wimbat is bug sized, this could get tough. It'd require figuring target speed, distance and bullet velocity inorder to calculate 'lead'(pronounced 'leed').If a wombat is king cong size,no problem. Aim at his balls.

    Stock Bridgestones

I'll never know about Bridgestones. Part of the deal on my 06' is Avons from the gitgo.

    Fuel Economy

sounds like I'm gonna have to push this FJR awhile to equal my old ST1100 mpg. And it hadda bigger tank!

    TWN's Poll

Am beginning to think linked brakes suk. Does any dirt or on-off road bike have'm? If not,why not?
  17. G

    TWN's Poll

ok, even if linked brakes are ABS also, the front wheel will slow in graval ,right? That's enough to dump you in some situations,I think.Maybe. I've done a lot of off road riding(dirt bikes) as well as gravel riding on sport tourers(doesn't mean I know a damn thing,I realize). Seems in some...

    Great Ride, Great Pics

HEY! This is great! Thanks. Brings back gobs of memories. And you're right about going it alone. Years ago I did that(took solo bird hunting trips all over the US & Canadian prairies too).Met folks who became life long friends.Learned a lot of history I'd never learned otherwise. REALLY enjoyed...

    TWN's Poll

thanks TWN. When I get the 06' I'm goin to experiment on gravel with it--VERY CAREFULLY--- if the front locks up on gravel and the bikes leaning, the drop & crash happen FAST. Been there, done that a long time ago.One does tend to remember it---vividly.

    TWN's Poll

anybody know of anybody who used just the rear brake in gravel or slick stuff and had the front brake activate and put'm down on a linked brake bike? I love gravel roads and ride'm a lot. Sure seems this could happen.
