    Battery replacement

Duracells are SUPPOSED to be intelligent and usually, for me, work better than Battery Tenders But I gather that there are better ones like CTEC as well. Still, I've found that if there is something pulling from the battery that's too much for the battery, that battery will still be killed.

    Battery replacement

Since people are discussing batteries, particularly LI ones, I'd like to get your thoughts on a battery for my OTHER bike, a 2002 FZ1. Circumstances: 1) The FZ1 lives in our beach house in Abaco, in the Bahamas. (Yes, I know...It's heaven there.) It's hot, with lots of sand and salty air. And...

    Oh oh, He's Back...

Just got back myself! Thinking I should drag the FJR to the shop and have them change, well, every fluid....

:ROFLMAO: You got it! You're not far from where Ivan's Performance Products was for many, many years. Now it looks like he's moved to South Carolina. Wonder what's up with that? Retiring to a milder climate? I haven't spoken to Ivan since 2013, but that's not due to any grudge or complaint...

    The problem with old bikes…

Really? The twin carbs facing backward had me fooled. I thought the XR-1000 did the "compromise" of a single carb like most H-D V-twins. The XR-1000 wasn't well-received, as I remember. H-D cut out too much of the performance of the race bike, was the beef.

    The problem with old bikes…

Is that a real XR-750 engine mounted in a street frame? I remember when Jay Springsteen was unbeatable on the Camel Pro circuit on his.

:);)(y) I have my 2004, too. But haven't ridden since before the pandemic.

Hi from NJ! I was born and raised there on the East bank of the Hudson, in a town famous for being "up the river". Are you Westchester, Putnam, or Rockland? And Garauld? I'm a S.U.N.Y-Binghamton grad--class of 1977.

    Been away too long!

Oops! Turns out I never knew that the hood on my '14 Silverado isn't ferrous--apparently it's aluminum and so I'm looking at using suction cups instead of magnets for the camera!

    Been away too long!

Thanks, everyone! Tinkering is my thing. Right now, I'm working on a portable camera system for my truck when I'm plowing. I've been plowing my driveway for 25 years and the visibility thing RIGHT in front of the plow has always bugged me. I've already replaced the plow's lights with much...

    Been away too long!

Don't really have any new pics of my 2004 FJR, but I haven't ridden it since before the Pandemic. I was terrified of ending up in an ER filled with Covid patients especially during the initial surge here in NJ in 2020. We lived as hermits, rarely venturing out, doing everything by delivery...

    Linked brakes not so bad

I've ridden plenty of dirt and gravel roads on street bikes, because I've never owned a dirt or dual-purpose bike, and having un-linked brakes makes it much easier because you can use your back brake aggressively and your front brake gently. Been doing it for over 40 years now.

    Russell Day Long in danger

Glad folks are safe. I've fought brush fires in the Bahamas, and it's scary as ****.

I am back and very happy

Got old in the ensuing years...63 now.

    Linked brakes not so bad

I hate, Hate, HATE linked brakes! They are DEADLY on a dirt or gravel road, where you only want your rear brake. If you have ABS, you're fine. I've had linked brakes (a 1991 Venture Royale) and it TERRIFIED me on dirt roads. IMHO, if you can't control separated brakes the problem is YOU...

Cross my heart and hope to die

I don't hope to die. Why hope for something you can't escape, anyway? "No one here gets out alive". You're not lucky to have this condition, but you're lucky to live in a time where it can be treated so you can live your life without going blind. I've had both hips replaced, and, while I'm...

My dad was killed in a motorcycle accident 07/29

So sorry for you loss of your dad. You never quite get over it, but you learn to live with it, and, after a while, you'll pay more attention to the good memories than the sad ones.
