    Was on the Dragon yesterday

I've been to the Dragon twice and, no, it's not the most scenic road in the area, though some of the pull-offs have great views. There are better views on other nearby roads. One of MY favorites is riding to the Fontana Dam, tallest of all the dams of the TVA. If you've ever seen "The...

FJR on gravel and fire roads

Maybe they are more "intelligent" than they were. My old Venture Royale with interlocked brakes was deadly on dirt or gravel roads. My '04 FJR is fine, by staying off the front brake.

FJR on gravel and fire roads

One of the things bike manufacturers seem to think is a good thing is interlocked front and rear brakes. Personally, I think they are dangerous and deadly on anything but paved roads or in serious poor traction conditions. It's like so many refused to make convertibles with either front-wheel...

    Farewell, Metatron! We'll miss you!

That's wonderful! I think I only saw that once and otherwise didn't care for the movie...But Alan Rickman was wonderful! As I said there are so many of his movies I haven't seen that I'll want to see.

    (Possibly) MC Related Vascular Condition

Geez RossKean, I feel like I'm talking to myself! I'm 60 as well, and was working out 3-4x/week, starting with 30 minutes of cardio, then 60-90 in the weight room for strength training, all to keep the new cyborg hip joints from bothering me (and it works). But an exam for a routine umbilical...

    Farewell, Metatron! We'll miss you!

I was so saddened to hear that Alan Rickman died today. I remember him in so many great roles and I didn't see them all! Hans Gruber, the sociopath in "Die Hard!" Colonel Brandon, the steady faithful reliable suitor in "Sense and Sensability" The Metatron, the grouchy, seedy, sardonic angel...

    Venture Royale

I bought a '91 Venture Royale new in 1992. At the time the only difference between the '91 and '92 was the color and about $650, so maroon was fine with me. It had LOTS of cool stuff built in: AM/FM/CB/Cassette deck with a remote by the left grip connected to... Pilot/Passenger communication...

    Scam email warning.

With one of the "grandma" callers I made up a name and asked if he was that "nephew". I think I used "Alowishus" and the ***** said "Yeah, this is Alowishus". (facepalm)

What's the Weather like where YOU are today?

Um, I think he's braggin', not bitchin'!

    Scam email warning.

"Grandma, I'm in trouble in Mexico/Las Vegas/Morocco and I don't want Mom&Dad to know. They have my passport and I'm in jail. PLEASE send $4500 so I can get home!" Got a couple of these calls when I took Mom's Vonage line home and she went into a nursing home. I told my "nephew" he belonged...

Guitar Lessons - I'm going to do it!

An FG150 should be a nice guitar. And Seagull makes a really nice product as well. Nothing to apologize for there. The only problem should be the fingers and the seat! (kinda like the only problem with my computer is usually between the keyboard and the chair!)

What's the Weather like where YOU are today?

Snowing in NJ, wet, sloppy snow, the kind everyone hates!

    Heads-Up Display Helmet

My wife's BMW (cage) has a HUD and her last one did too. She loves it and I do like it. I could see a helmet with one being useful, but you'd have to be able to turn it on and off and select some function. So while speed and RPM and a clock would always come on, nav, fuel level and other...

    Toyota truck frame recall

Watch the frame and body rust. These have long been Toyota weaknesses. Sometimes I think Toyota engines and transmissions are indestructible, but not everything else is.

Guitar Lessons - I'm going to do it!

Actually there's lots of great inexpensive guitars out there that play very well. If I could only have one new guitar and couldn't spend more than $350, I'd get a Yamaha APX500IIFM. It's acoustic electric, with built in tuner, easy to carry, fairly light strings for an acoustic, with a...

Garmin Map Updating - Does it suck or is it me?

Shoot! And I thought Tom Tom was bad! Updating maps is a pain in the *** but nothing like you describe. I do have a Garmin somewhere but when we replaced the sound system in the car with an Alpine system, it came with nav so the Garmin was obsolete. Rather use my Galaxy, so there's one less...

    Toyota truck frame recall

I had a 2003 Tundra and the frame recall was "solved" by spraying it with some black sticky crap that never dried. The differential "pumpkin" and the alignment adjusters rusted so that the former leaked and the latter could no longer be used. I was deeply disappointed in that truck, traded it...

Shipping bike from Eastern Canada to LA

Horseless Carriage out of New Jersey does a GREAT job on bikes. They shipped my FZ1 from my front door to a shipping agent in Florida as I was shipping it off-shore. DIdn't need to crate it, either.

That's a great pic! Is that an '04?

    Natalie Cole

Beautiful voice, conquered so much adversity, and did one of the most amazing albums with her late father. RIP.
