My Poor Old Worn Out FJR

Thanks for the grins! And the good advice! No, I'm not likely to be test-riding any bikes soon, and have NO desire or impetus to replace my under-used FJR. My sole complaint is it can get hot in traffic in the summer.

My Poor Old Worn Out FJR

I guess my 2¢ is: If you love your FJR, and it's running great, and there's nothing that bugs the $#!t out of you about it, why would you be thinking about selling it and buying another bike? A bike that does 150 or 180 STILL can't be run on American roads at those speeds without a ticket...

    New Knees?

Don, I can't give you much more on knee replacement than anyone else here has given you, but I've seen a number of them since I've both hips replaced (a big piece of why I haven't been around here much). Most people are far better off after the replacements IF they do do the PT. I knew from...

From R1 to FJR; my observations

I still have my FZ1 ('02) which was based on the R1, but more comfortable. Then I got the FJR and, had I not had the FZ1 already, I never would have gotten the FZ1. Don't get me wrong--the FZ1 is a GREAT bike and I love it. So I compromised: We have a vacation home and the FZ1 lives there now.

    Been a long time gone

Hah! Only (and always) when they play the Mets! Where have I been? Just living life, dealing with some bad, some good. Raisin' kids--got one out of the house doing well in college (imagine a dollar sign with wings, though), the other still at home. Some health issues cropped up that...

    Been a long time gone

I just realized I haven't signed on here in a while. Then I looked at dates and it look like I haven't checked in for 4 1/2 years! Still have my '04. But health issues have made it tough to ride the Feejer. Hopefully, they are just about behind me and I'll be riding it again. Of course then...

Feedback requested on buying a used 2004 FJR

2004, heated grips weren't standard or an option, so it's aftermarket. Should be easily replaced (I have under-grip heaters and like them better). List price on a new PC III USB for this bike is $360. but it sells for $290, new. The only other thing wrong was a broken glove box...don't know...

    2012 FJR PROTOTYPE SIGHTED

no and no. Isn't that Jay Leno's bike? I KNOW he has some sort of insane gas turbine engined bike that puts out as much HP as a top fueler, like 300-500HP and at stop-lights melts the plastic stuff on nearby cars....

    Done farkling....................for now

I figure one is never done farkling an FJR until one sells the bike or kicks the bucket. I consider any stop in adding farkles is nothing but a hiatus.

Why is the FJr being left out of tests?

Good memory! I lived in NC for enough years to become a lifelong Tarheel fan. Yeah, I fell off the Fizzy 7 years ago. Dislocated right shoulder (not the kind the pops back in), messed up ankle. I was in P/T for 6 months. Got about 90% back and it aches from time to time. Meanwhile I fixed the...

Why is the FJr being left out of tests?

I didn't leave. I just forgot to post for 3 years...Not the same. However, if it makes you feel better that picture is enough to make the fleas leave a dog, much less a member leave off posting! :yahoo:

Why is the FJr being left out of tests?

Glad to see you, too! That's a question without a very interesting answer... In the spring and summer of 2009 I was job hunting, a statistic, one of 9.something% unemployed, 5 months on the bench. Meanwhile, the idiots who took over my old company and sacked me ran it into the ground in 18...

    New Rich's custom seat

Looks great! Does anybody do ride-in seat rebuilds in the NE, esp NY/NJ/PA/CT?

    FJR / BMW Indecision

Yeah, I always have that "problem" too. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it! You may find the passenger pegs are too high for her, even if she's short (my wife's 5'2" also) , but there are after-market solutions for lowered pegs. However, not all lowered pegs work with all...

Something changed on the FJR since the '04? Why?

Patti Knight (Mrs. TWN) Passed Away, Friday, 1/15

Good Lord! Where have I been? I haven't been here since July of '08, almost 3 years. Had to reset the PW. And what do I find? My old pal TWN died not long after that, and now his wife is gone too. I had no idea. I had stumbled on to some funny PMs he and I had exchanged ending with "ride...
