Has anyone done a Dyno on their FJR?

Just to be technical for a moment: The Dark blue FJR of 2005 absorbs more of the sun's photons, transferring heat to the combustion chambers and inducing greater expansion of the combustion gases resulting in more HP and torque. ;) Don't want to start a color war. Just stating the physics...

    Travel Security

I use a cable gun lock to secure my helmet to the bike, throw the GPS into the tank bag and take it with me into the restaurant or any short stop location. If a bad guy really wants my used helmet, it's easy enough to cut the cable, but it's there to keep honest people honest. At a motel, my...

As with most, my decision to buy the FJR was based on personal biases. I liked the looks of the ST1300. It is very comfortable, but: I was not thrilled moving from a 500 lb bike (540 filled with fuel), a ZRX1200, to a bike that was even heavier, the FJR. For me, weight was an issue. The ST...

    TEXAS CODE TALKERS

Notice that much of her upper lip is just lipstick. Her makeup artist simply drew in some extra lip and shaped it. The lower lip looks like it was injected with play-doh. Like many states, Texas has a varied topography. My brother lived in San Angelo, and that is flat. Houston is as hot and...

    TEXAS CODE TALKERS

In Alaska, they told me that if Texans didn't stop complaining about being the second largest state, they would cut Alaska in half and make Texas the thrid largest state. :o :D Ron

    Fuel Economy

My fuel efficiency is almost the same as that of RadioHowie. I have had some trips on 65 mph roads that have taken me to near 52 mpg. When I do the twisties in the Rocky Mountains at a spirited pace, I get 40-42 mpg. Ron

    Shop in Denver

I've been using Excel Yamaha on West Colfax, just before Wadsworth. They have done the scheduled services competently. It doesn't feel very 'homey' or friendly, but I'll take cold and effective over homey an incompetent. I haven't had any big issues to deal with, so I don't know how they will...

    Dual Sport

Looks like we have identical dual-sports, JohnBryer! I was lucky enough to get it used, with many of the necessary extras. I've been very pleased. Ron

    Hawaii FJR owners???

I get it. You're going to do an Iron Butt rally on the Big Island. I'm afraid that you will be retracing your steps and seeing the same scenery many times over. How are you doing, George? Ron 'also known as Wekoli Haalualauluaa'

    Dual Sport

The Suzi DRZ400 and the Kwack KLR 650 are both terrific dual-sports. The DRZ is more dirt oriented and not very comfortable on the road. The KLR can handle roads very well, but is heavier than the DRZ and takes more work to ride it in the dirt. As was said before in this thread, there are some...

Sound Like Vibration Of Plastic Against Plastic

I think the tape I have is for securing carpet to the floor. It doesn't stick particularly well. But thanks for the warning! Ron

    What Is It About FJR's

Looking at your photo of the turn-out at Monument Valley, I can see the issue. There is a sharp drop-off from the tarmac to the loose sand. Just that drop-off alone can cause a fall. There are so many turn-outs that I have to pass because I see the loose surface or a steep drop from the road. I...

    Strange Noice During Compression Braking...

When I take the rpm's up to about 4000, I can hear what sounds like a plastic on plastic vibration. It is not an irregular clickity sound like valve train noise or the dreaded tick as heard on the Holeshot site, but a low volume (can't hear it with earplugs in) vibration sound that is very...

How Come No Looters In Texas?

Ah, an S&W 500. As ionbeam says, a 50 caliber handgun. It's used primarily for handgun hunting and often has a scope attached. they are actually pretty comfortable to shoot and feel well balanced. It does not lend itself to concealed carry. Ron

Kids And Guns In The Home

One activity my son and I enjoy together is going to the range and putting holes in paper with 9 mm, 40 S&W, 38 sp, and 45 ACP. I started training him long ago with the cardinal rules of handling firearms. We shot 22LR into D cell batteries and 45's into water filled jugs. The little hole in...
