    I'm Back

Welcome home, Roger. The big problem is crossing a street. Remember to look to the left rather than the right before crossing. Ron

    Surveys

I received and filled out the J.D. Power survey after they sent the second post card. It was rather extensive, and I did it in three sittings. Ron

Chrome Or Polished Stuff On An FJR

I had to take anathema before my colonoscopy. The starter of the thread shouldn't have to subject himself to such internal abuse. :P :D Ron

Chrome Or Polished Stuff On An FJR

I don't know where you all might buy your chrome. My neighbor has a '98 Road King and he is single handedly keeping Mugabe and Putin in power in Zimbabwe and Russia, respectively, what with the chrome mines there. After my neighbor is done, there simply isn't any chrome left in the U S of A. Ron

    Met Bob Carter Today...

Great to have you abroad...aboard. The V46 GIVI top case is larger and can more easily take a helmet or two. The Yamaha case is supported by the plastic rear rack, the GIVI by its own, less expensive, metal, stronger, uglier aluminum rack. Personally, I prefer the GIVI setup. I had 3 GIVIs on...

    Met Bob Carter Today...

Folks like Bob and RadioHowie help us forget about the nasty and obstreperous people who get most of the publicity. Thanks for the writeup and the story, RadioHowie. Ron

    Dirt Roads And A FJR

Here is what the FJR can do Ron:D

    Rear Ended At A Stoplight

Glad to read that you weren't hurt worse. It generally isn't too hard to have the dealership write it up as totalled. Have them tally every damn thing wrong on the bike. I hope you can get the '06 to replace it. Regards, Ron

FJR's In The 2005 Iron Butt Rally

Congratulations, George, on a mighty 3rd leg. And congratulations to all the competitors! Thanks for the wheel changing lessons. I didn't have to use much of my new found wheel experience as Bob V and Craig did all the changing like professionals. Not one FJR failed to finish due to mechanical...

FJR's In The 2005 Iron Butt Rally

George Zelenz lost a bonus because the lighthouse he was too approach did not appear in the photograph. When I was there on Friday, the reason was variously given that the lighthouse was behind a tree or that it was too small in the distance and was disallowed. I think that George has been...

    Dropped It Today

Sorry to read about the dump. Good to see that you are not hurt too badly! I learned a lesson the hard way: Never apply the front brakes while turning into gravel. I went down so fast I hardly could believe it. JUst lost the front end. This was on my previous bike. I can see you painting the...

FJR's In The 2005 Iron Butt Rally

So you noticed, too, radman! It's not a skirt, it is Dale's kilt. And don't ask what he wears under it. :o Ron

    FJR Dead Last?

We have to keep in mind that, in the U.K. there isn't a big difference in price between the BMW, ST1300 and the FJR. IN the USA, the price differential between the FJR and BMW can add up to $4-5000. The ST1300 is about $3000 more than the FJR. For some reason, the relative prices compress in...

FJR's In The 2005 Iron Butt Rally

Daayam! Doug looks like he could be my twin brother. Then again, Mom always liked me best. Ron

Damn, that didn't take long! Thanks for the update, Dale. Glad to read that he isn't hurt too badly. Ron

    FJR Dead Last?

I prefer the British bike mags to all the U.S. mags except for Motorcycle Consumer News. That said, I found it remarkable that the magazine that had the FJR rated as the best Sport-Tourer every month for about 2 years suddenly had a change of mind. Suddenly it was slower than the ST1300...

I Dropped My FJR Tuesday Night On The Road.

I put the TOGs on until I could take delivery of the Moko sliders. I learned the hard way with my previous bike. I put my foot down on the only piece of ice left on the driveway. Thwap. Thunk. Lesson learned. Ron

FJR's In The 2005 Iron Butt Rally

I get to meet George Zelenz in person on Friday. It's great to put substance onto an internet persona! I won't get to see them off, but I should be there when they get in from the first part of the trip on Friday the 26th. Best wishes for great weather and a problem free ride! Ron

    Glove Recommendations

One of my buddies on the ZRXOA site (knedgr) crashed at the track in his Joe Rocket gloves. The seams separated, the palms wore through, and his palms look like hamburger. His conclusion: Joe Rocket gloves will never touch his hands again. Ron
