    Avon Or Metz

If I recall, up at the Sunnyside FJR gathering, there were 1 or 2 people who had separation on Z6's. Also, as I said before, I have never seen such a weak sidewall on a motorcycle as I did on the Z6. Ron

Wow, Another Gizmo You Can't Do Without

Actually, I'm only Rhonda when I put on a bra and panties. :D The 'other' party is my bride of 35 years. That's a testimony for her perseverence! I attached one of those magnets to her to keep her from aging. Should have used it for myself. Ronnie ;)

Wow, Another Gizmo You Can't Do Without

Oh, yeh, I'm a geek and proud of it. We have to take a geek self-esteem course so we can go out in public. :D Problem is that Bill Gates is a geek, and he has billions! I'm a geek and I have...a mortgage, car loans and tuition to pay for a kid in college. :( Oh, and this is what a geek...

    Avon Or Metz

When I swapped out my Metz Z-6's for the Avons, I saw a demonstration of why I should never again get the Metz. Compared to the Avons and Bridgestone, the sidewall on the Z6 was remarkably weak and flimsy. I could bend the z 6 sidewall in half like folding a piece of bread. I did not want to...

    Oxtar Boots

I have the Oxtar Matrix Gore Tex too. The are very comfortable. I bought them from New Enough after seeing a very positive review in Motorcycle Consumer News. My size 43 is just a little too small for my 9.5-10 size foot. Next time I'll get the 44. Still, they are the most comfortable...

    Commuting On Your Bike

I'm the only faculty or staff member at my university who rides in regularly. There is another faculty member of my department who shows up on his BMW cruiser (the James Bond one) about once every two months. Ron

Wow, Another Gizmo You Can't Do Without

Hydrocarbon (gasoline) molecules are non-polar in nature - they don't have a positive and negative end (like water does). Magnets would do absolutely nothing to hydrocarbon molecules. Ron

    Natural Velocity

I'm just shocked that some of my FJR brethern and sistern even think about going beyond the legally posted speed limit. :omg: My FJR has never seen such hooligan activity. :innocent: If I would ever consider such a transgression, then the devil made me do it. :devilsmiley: Ron

    Extended Warranty

At over $700 that most dealerships ask for the Y.E.S. contract, I'd have to think twice. For the $389 from D&H, I jumped on it. $389 buys a lot of mental security, even if you never use it. Ron

Why Cell Phones And Cars Don't Mix

I thought this was an interesting piece of research concerning cellphones and cars - and why we have to be considered 'survivors' every time we go out to ride. Related Articles · Hands-free kits do not reduce crash risk 16 July 2005 Web Links · Transportation Research Part F: Traffic...

    Galaxy Blue Paint Code

I have read on other sites that the Colorite is not a good match to the Galaxy blue. This is hearsay, so take it for what it's worth. A good, solid FJR colormatch is Duplicolor's TYO1612 Toyota Stellar Blue Mettallic(8L7). Ford Mustang Sonic Blue might be similar to the FJR. An auto body shop...

    Gas Mileage And Range...

On my trip to Washington state from Colorado, I saw 51 mpg on the highway in Wyoming, 49-50 on the back roads of WY and Idaho, and 43-45 taking the mountain twisties pretty mildly. If I push it in the twisties, then it drops to 41. Ron

    Springfield Armory Xd

If a bad guy is already in your house, there is nothing like the 'thunk, clunk' of a round being chambered in a shotgun to cause the bad guy to consider leaving. If the BG leaves, then the shotgun has done it work effectively, even without firing. The 'stopping power' debate goes on ad...

    Help On Gps Mount

I have the standard U-clamp, handle bar mount attached to the bar just behind the front brake reservoir. I put a piece of vinyl between the metal U-clamp and the bar to avoid scratches. I've used it for 8000 miles now, and it has worked perfectly. Ron

    Riding In Extreme Temperatures

That article covers a critical, life or death issue, and was very well put together. When I lived in Virginia, there was a 10K run that passed through our neighborhood. The temperature was in the 90's as was the humidity. There simply was not enough water capacity in the air to let evaporative...

I have the service model XD 40 and I purchased a 9 mm barrel for it. So, it's almost a two for one. I can shoot the inexpensive 9 mm all day. The XD is the most comfortable handgun I have ever used! For me, and handgun fit is very individual, it points better and sits more naturally in my hand...
