    Yet another HID experiment

Sweet - what's your assessment of the high beams on this setup, relative to stock?

    IBA email

I received the same e-mail from Mr. Kneebone yesterday but only interpreted it as an explanation for their in-house delays.... until I got to the last paragraph saying I was now part of the toughest riders, etc. Still left me a bit confused but hope it IS confirmation!!! BTW - my ride also was...

    BBG 1500 Quali Question

I was going to e-mail the IBA folks this question but given its nearly the weekend not sure I will get a response in time. I completed my SS1000 about a month ago and am now waiting for official certification from IBA. I have an opportunity to attempt a BBG1500 this weekend but obviously won't...

Garmin 2730 - Problem with locked maps - Help !

This is just bizarre. I have not (yet - knock on wood) had any problems with my 2730 and the MP3 function so apparently you've discovered some secret-key-press-combination-code-thingy. Were you using he same Firmware versions when this happened?

    The 2006 IBA National

Absolutely love Denver - last time I was there was in 97 - saw Broncos and Jets! I would have loved to attend but just used my last bit of "family" goodwill completing my saddlesore - oh well, wtih any luck next year's WFO will be in Colorado.

    Russel vs. Corbin vs. Sargent

Just completed an SS1000 on the stocker on a 2005. Honestly it worked better than I expected - no monkey butt on this ride but I don't believe for a second I have some magical panacea. After all my research I still believe Russell is the way to go but JMHO.

    SS1K LIVE from the Saddle

Just putting my package together to submit to IBA. I have all my receipts - date and time stamped, my log documentation, my witness doc (my wife), and my map - speaking of which does anyone know if I can submit the Navtec Map printout I posted here or do I need to send in an actual road map? Rich

    SS1K LIVE from the Saddle

Axeman - it really is that easy to see - sunlight or not. And at night it isn't blinding which I thought it might when I originally installed it. So far 5,000 miles with it and it works like a charm (and I still think it looks pretty cool too...) Rich Ahh the things you learn in life - I am...

    SS1K LIVE from the Saddle

Here is the route: Rich I was wondering about that too - my Garmin is on switched power so I think everytime I stopped and switched off, it stops tracking?? In reality, I departed at about 4:15 am and returned at 10:30pm which in total is 18 hours 15 minutes so stopped time is closer to 2...

    SS1K LIVE from the Saddle

Alright now that I have had a good night's sleep here are some of my thoughts and also some piccies after completing my first SS1000. 1) First off a big thankyou to everyone for the sage advice I took before heading out - I listened and applied resulting in a safe and successful ride! :)...

    SS1K LIVE from the Saddle

9:10pm PST - made it to slammin Salmon Arm on the beautiful Shuswap Lake. After the disappointment with the weather on the last leg I have to say this leg from Golden to Salmon Arm has been the highlight ride of the trip. Lots of traffic but the road conditions were perfect and a number of...

    SS1K LIVE from the Saddle

6:35pm PST - I'm golden in Golden! Actually I'm more like a drowned rat after getting drenched the past 2 1/2 hours in the Rockies - unfortunately due to the downpour I couldn't get any piccies :( Lots of traffic on this stretch as many campers head for the Shuswap for the long weekend...

    SS1K LIVE from the Saddle

3:30pm - I'm in Calgary 700 miles down, 370 miles to home. Just went through a wicked squal complete with lots of thunder and lightning - looked like tornado weather - needless to say I got the f*** out of there! Feeling pretty good - not tired but my jaw hurts from chewing gum under my helmet...

    SS1K LIVE from the Saddle

12:45pm PST - just topped up the tank on the south side of Edmonton - halfway home! Ride from Edson to Edmonton was a bit boring as it is mostly flat and straight - lots of prairie land and farms. Did get to stretch the legs of the FJR a bit and no LEOs! On to Calgary now via Hwy 2 south -...

    SS1K LIVE from the Saddle

10:40am PST - well after 400 miles I am in Edson, Alberta. I am a bit surprised how good I feel - not the least bit tired and no *** pain on the stocker seat. Have seen tonnes of wild life and spectacluar mountains, lakes, valleys, etc. after coming through Jasper National Park. I gotta say...

    SS1K LIVE from the Saddle

Made it to Valemount which is just over 200 miles. It is now 7:25am PST. Pretty uneventful ride - nice scenery up through Blue River - a wee bit chilly through the valley with some low lying cloud and mist but emerged into spectaculer sunshine just south of town. Next heading throug gorgeous...
